The bagels here are amazing. I got a plain bagel from here one Saturday morning. It was warm and fluffy like it just came out of the oven. I put cream cheese on it and enjoyed every bite. I wanted to go back and get another but it was filling so I did not.

Solid bagel location, plenty of cream cheese topping flavors. I got the lox cream cheese with a toasted everything bagel. Even though it was a Sunday, it wasn’t too full, and the line to order passed by quite quickly. Massive bagel too, was both my breakfast and lunch. The cream cheese wasn’t too heavy either, but just the right amount to make me feel fulfilled.

Not sure why my bagel took so much longer than others, I saw people who came after me leave before me. Maybe they forgot about my order, so I had to pester them. Very unfortunate.

Delicious bagels! I always get the jalapeño cream cheese on a toasted sesame bagel with avocado and cucumber. Service is quick, staff is friendly! Can get busy on the weekend mornings as seating is limited but line is fast moving if you’re doing takeout. Definitely recommend!

Needed of course to grab a bagel in NYC so Ess-a-Bagel was one of the obvious contenders. Usually a good sign when the joint has an absolutely packed line that tails off out of the front door into the morning rain. Not knowing the sizing I erred in getting three bagels, one as a sandwich, the other with a spread and the basic test of quality the butter only. This is a very large amount of food. Two halves of those bagels made it out alive till the next morning. Note to self for next time as well, request things heated (this must be an option right) because that bagel haul would have been considerably enhanced by a bit of toasting. Will visit again regardless.

Yummy bagels and quick service. I stopped by here for a quick breakfast on Sunday morning.
I ordered a whole wheat bagel (lightly toasted) with the seasonal pumpkin cream cheese, and a small coffee. Bagel was decently sized, and the cream cheese was absolutely delicious — the right amount of subtle sweetness and loaded with fresh pumpkin flavor. The coffee wasn’t great but for the price ($2.25 for a small), I got what I expected.
Pro tip: if you don’t want your bagel too crunchy, ask for it to be lightly toasted and it should come out soft and chewy, which is the way I prefer my bagels.
All in all, I would recommend this place for a quick bite for their variety of choices, yummy bagels, and cordial service.

I love coming to this ess-a-bagel for a pick-me-up! Sweet staff who always welcomes you with a smile at the register and efficient cook staff. Their tofu spread is super creamy and yum!!
Get a loyalty card if you are a local - I’m sure you will become a regular here!
