Dinosaur Bar-b-que

The food was excellent and the service was on point. We went for lunch. The kids had grilled cheese and Mac and cheese. Adults had the Ultimate Blt and the petite sampler. Unfortunately we came on Super Bowl Sunday and they had no pulled pork! We went with extra ribs which was nice. The ribs and the brisket were awesome. The blt has too much sauce but was still good. Their Mac and cheese was amazing and so were the sweet potatoes. Wish I could have had some poem though! The kids were begging for more corn bread.

Only visited this place once, and I have to say that out of the many restaurants I have visited, this place is by far the one of the coolest. What I really like about this restaurant is the location, which is convenient and approximately 5 minutes walking distance from Newark Penn station (depending on your walking speed). The service in this restaurant was friendly/welcoming, as well as attentive, as the staff frequently came to check-in to see how things were going. Thank you Tony. The food presentation seemed typical of what you could find in a local restaurant/bar, which was acceptable for the setting. I ordered the sampler for 2, which, as evidenced by the pictures provided, did not meet my expectations because the serving size was inadequate for what I would expect to see in a sampler (I think a sampler would have more than 1 per person) - Nevertheless, it was delicious and satisfying. I really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and the dipping sauce. The deviled eggs were absolutely tasty and delicious. The shrimps were fresh and appealing to my appetite, and the chicken 'wing' was also seasoned and cooked to perfection, but left me 'gasping' for more. :( The prices for the food and beverages were in line for the restaurant's location, as well as what I see with local competitors. I recommend Dinosaur BBQ for visitors, and for anyone wanting to just enjoy a night out with family.

Came here as there wasn't much else available in the area. This part of town is rather depressed. The food was ok, but the portions were small and the prices were high. The staff were indifferent and the service suffered because of it. I was served the wrong plate and had to ask to have it replaced with what I actually ordered. Drink refills were slow. The atmosphere was too noisy and the staff spent most of their time just yelling at each other. At least it was better than the pizza next door.

Really enjoyed this loves location. I had tried the original one in Harlem and I'm not sure what I got, but it wasn't good, so I swore it off for a while. I stumbled in here while waiting for the tow car place to reopen after their lunch. The food was excellent. We just got small plates, no entrees. One part of the sampler plate wasn't able to come out and the kitchen manager came out and explained that to us. We weren't telling, but she brought us extra sweet potatoes and we got extra shrimp as well. So customer service was A1. I will def come back for dinner and hopefully the service will be the same.

Had the pleasure of eating at this location before hearing Michelle Obama speak. The food portions were good and big. If you want a meek, cute meal...please DON'T COME HERE. The quantity is well worth it. It's inexpensive too, so that's a bonus. Also, as a southerner I usually squarm when northern locations say they have homemade southern sweet tea. Unlike many who tried and failed, the sweet tea here is delicious.
