I Was so excited to nom nom nom here. We took a detour off the hwy for lunch at around 12:30. Heads up. We took a wrong turn when we left and ended up on the B89 and it was a lovely change from the drab Hwy. Mickey & Co is a nice little cafe an industrial area. Due to covid there is no access to a bathroom but the staff said i cpuld try at the local service station. There is a little outdoor area to sit in the sun or you can eat inside. The $7 iced coffee looked amazing when the lovely welcoming staff passed it over the counter.. it was a bit bitter but I only paid $6.50, as I upgraded my combo and got this instead of a can. The wait for the food felt like ages, probably because I was super hungry. They were well staffed and there was a few visiting tradies who the staff addressed by name. I love a place which remembers your name and drink. I couldn't wait to chow into the $9 "Fish Butty" with beer battered flathead fillets, chips with house tartar on a toasted roll. It was well presented in a cardboard box. The roll wasnt toasted but if the bread was fresh it wouldn't of mattered. fish was dry and the chips were soft. I thought it tasted like a fillet-o-fish burger.. My partner thought it tasted worest than that. The tartar could of done with more pickles/capers/dill/a touch of mustard.. We also got the $12 "Pilly Cheese Steak Sandwich" with American Jack cheese, onion and capsicum. I upgraded to the combo so it was served with chips (which ended up being free. YAY!) and upgraded the drink to the iced coffee as above. The Pilly was served on turkish bread. The steak, grilled capsicum and onions weren't bad, but there was unmelted grated tasty cheese and Jack cheese. The tasty overwhelmed the Jack, I would have preferred more melted Jack cheese. The chips were Chrispy, hot and had just the right amount of salt. Overall the lovely staff, crispy hot chips and being able to sit in the sun with my partner made it a pleasant experience.

had a pit stop at Mickey and Co. as we were traveling to Coffs from Sydney and I must say it was worth the slight detour! We ordered a soy cap, ( lovely hot coffee! not lukewarm! ) and a Philly steak cheese sandwich! (cheesy, tasty, with a side or perfectly fried chips!). if you want a nice alternative off the highway, come by this place!
