Au Courant

Au Courant's website says, "Please note, we are willing to accommodate a wide range of dietary restrictions and allergies. Just ask us!" And they mean it! We dined there last night to celebrate a friend's birthday. It's one of my friend's favorite restaurants and I knew that he loves to do the tasting menu. I also knew that if someone wants to do the tasting menu, the whole table has to do it. I didn't want to ruin his birthday, but I also knew I wouldn't be able to do that - I follow a really strict anti-inflammatory diet due to a chronic health condition. When I told our waitress that I had really specific dietary restrictions, she was so gracious in asking what they were, wrote down what I couldn't have, asked great follow up questions, made some suggestions, went back to talk to the chef/kitchen, and quickly came back with some great ideas tailored for me. Everyone else at the table still got to do the tasting menu. My food was fantastic. I still got to participate in the "Au Courant" experience – I had a beet salad with strawberries, onions and micro greens; duck breast with sweet potato puree, and charred raddichio with radish; a lemon, basil mocktail from the bar; and a raspberry sorbet for dessert. They bring another tiny dessert with the check and she even had a suggestion of something special they could do for me. But I was too full and declined. :) But I was touched that they wanted to include me right to the end of the meal. I really didn't expect that! I am used to my only options being something like a plain chicken breast and iceberg lettuce, or maybe a steak and steamed broccoli. But I actually got to eat interesting food and felt good the next day! So, I just wanted to share my experience for other people who may have dietary restrictions. You can actually eat at Au Courant. They're willing to get creative for you and you can tell they are happy to do it. I can't say enough about how nice that was. Going to a new restaurant can be anxiety inducing when you follow a special diet. You never know if a place will be accommodating, if the kitchen will mix things up, if you're going to feel sick or just off the next day, or if the staff will make you feel like you're being annoying or high maintenance. Our waitress was amazing - so kind and helpful. And we had a great time celebrating my friend's birthday.

Au Courant continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha. Their food is absolutely incredible and it’s clear how much effort and heart goes into each and every dish. Every server we’ve had has been wonderful and very knowledgeable on each dish and menu item. Their drinks are delicious and so creative as well! I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! Truly a one of kind gem in Omaha!

Came here for dinner for the first time and had an excellent meal. The wine list is extensive and the decor is very cool with the melted candles everywhere. I started with a glass of the Orange Sauv Blanc, Chovy's Egg, and the Tartare. All were excellent, and the Tartare excelled with its balance of tart onions and cabbage and sweet toasted brioche. For the main course, I had the Short Rib Pavé paired with the Syrah/Grenache at the recommendation of one of the hosts. The Pavé was tender and flavorful, and the wine really was perfect for it. Finished the meal with the Under Your Spell, which was just sweet enough to be dessert. Excellent choice if you're willing to spend a bit more or need a great date spot.

I recently dined at Au Courant Regional Kitchen in Benson, and it was truly an exceptional experience. I opted for the chef's tasting menu with the wine pairing, and it was nothing short of incredible. Each course was a culinary masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavors. The chef's creativity and attention to detail were evident in every bite. The wine pairing was spot on, enhancing the flavors of each dish and elevating the overall dining experience. The staff's knowledge and passion for food and wine were evident throughout the evening, making the experience even more enjoyable. The ambiance was elegant yet comfortable, adding to the overall charm of the restaurant. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience in Benson, I highly recommend the chef's tasting menu with the wine pairing at Au Courant Regional Kitchen. It's a gastronomic journey that will leave you delighted and satisfied.

Did the chefs selection with wine pairing. Was incredible! My son's said each bite had " all these flavors". The wine pairing complimented each course probably the way wine is suppossed to but seldom achieved on my own. The presentation and explanation we received with each course and the wine description with each course was a dinner experience we won't soon forget! The only complaint was it's pretty noisy/echo ey but hey, it's a smallish popular place and by the time we finished, it was quieter.

If I could give Au Courant more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! This gem is not just a restaurant; it's an enchanting journey for your taste buds, orchestrated by a culinary genius. Whenever friends or family visit Omaha, I only have one recommendation: "Run, don't walk, to Au Courant!" It's a culinary haven that's not to be missed. I wish I had taken photos of the food because of the beautiful presentation but it was so delicious, I just couldn't resist eating it immediately! A unique experience for sure, and the staff did a great job with presenting and explaining every dish we were served. Best short rib I've had in my life! Will definitely be returning.

Au Courant is something special - their chef/kitchen crew clearly understand the power of flavors. We did the tasting menu, and my husband and I were both floored by the unique and delicious combination of flavors of each plate. This place would be a 5 out of 5 except for a couple of notes - others reviewers have mentioned the noise, and it really should be dealt with. It is unbearably loud in Au Courant, and even some simple sound dampening on the walls and ceiling would help so much. Management, please consider investing in some if you’re reading this! We were also frustrated that we didn’t get our cocktails until after we received our first course, when we clearly saw them sitting on the bar. We get that our waitress was busy, but paying over $250 for our meal, we expected quicker service. Overall, great culinary experience in Omaha!
