Fernando's

Had the Number 7, all beef, no rice or beans and covered in white cheese sauce. Was incredible. I meant to take a picture but forgot all about it once this plate sent from heaven was put in front of me. The waiter, I wish I would have caught his name, took the order for 8 people, wrote nothing down and got nothing wrong. Strongly recommend, a tad pricey, but well worth it when you go. I did get a picture of the end results though.

Try a new place night took us to Fernando’s tonight. I had a Relleno dinner and my wife had a chimichanga. Our friends had the same. The rellenos were as good as I’ve ever had, anywhere! Excellent beans and rice. The chimichanga was reported to be excellent as well. Great service provided to us by Chelsea. We were seated right away and then met by our server immediately. We will definitely go back as I’m a relleno fan.

Good food and service. Great house margarita! We started with the Queso Blanco Dip which is served with both flour and corn chips. The dip was mild and kept a smooth, melty consistency. The serving size was huge, especially for two people. For dinner, my husband had the #12 Steak Tacos combo which he thought was good, although he didn't care for the grilled onions. I tried the #3 Tamale Combo with a carnitas taco and a beef enchilada. The tamale was very good and had a lot of meat. The carnitas had good flavor as well. I also liked the beef enchilada, but it did get lost in cheese and lettuce. Our service started out slow and the waiter forgot my margarita, but once our food orders were taken and the food came out, everything went good.

Fernando's has been a family favorite since before it opened. We've been going to El Bee's (same recipes, although the menus have diverged a little) forever, and we've been loving Fernando's, too. It's true, it's not traditional or authentic Mexican; it's definitely Americanized Mexican (with no shortage of cheese on everything). However, Fernando's does what I consider Mexican comfort food better than anyone in town. Additionally, their fried flour tortilla chips are unlike anything I've ever found elsewhere, and they're so good that I get an order of bean dip every time I go to the restaurant. The enchiladas and tamales are also top-notch. Overall, they're just an excellent restaurant. Definitely one of my top favorites!
