One of the most delicious platters of sausages and mash I've had altogether! Definitely can recommend, the atmosphere is great as well.

First pint, always a good sign. London Pride, very nice . Dinner was excellent, I had a mixed grill, Mrs Ellis had the chicken schnitzel, both meals were spot on. 2nd pint, Dark star Hoppy beer, lovely pint too. Coukdnt fit a pudding in but really wanted one. Good place friendly staff, Yorkshire lass was very pleasant. Looked after us well. Thank you.

Great historical pub.
Went for the steak and ale pie with mash and vegetables with a pint of Nicholsons Pale Ale which didn't disappoint.
Large atmospheric rooms and outside courtyards, well worth a visit.
Service could not be faulted top marks.

Beautiful place with absolutely lovely staff and a wonderful historic atmosphere. However, the cobbles make it a little difficult to navigate, and it's incredibly expensive for a non-local (drinks average around £10.) This being said, though, both the food and drinks are good quality and taste incredible. I can see why they're so pricey.

Nice out of the way Oxford pub, not as busy as the Turf Tavern so easy to get a seat.
Small courtyard nice in the sun.
Can't comment on food as we only had a couple of beers.

Atmosphere and mood was good - Chequers has always been a favourite. The food and service were generally very good, however, one of the brisket burger eaters were concerned by it being a little 'sloppy' and the bun getting wet. Chicken pie was excellent. I would say that the tables were a little sticky (not dirty, but when varnish gets wet). Overall, we enjoyed our food and visit.

Lovely old laneway pub, keeps with bones of original building being one room deep. Provides a great atmosphere with plenty of seating options. A must if you are looking for a pint!

Old pub in the middle of Oxford. The pub grub style food was very tasty and reasonable value. The pub has a few different rooms and space outside. Sports screens every where. This is the third time here and it is a very popular pub and rightly so. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
