The First Floor Restaurant

Our first time eating out on the Cowley Road in Oxford for many years, and we are so glad we found Achaar. The best curry we have had for a very long time. My wife loved her lamb (Sag Gosht) and the Chicken Jalfrezi that I had was delicious. Perfect heat. Great service, and nice ambience (really liked the tranquil background music). We’ll be back!

Stayed in Oxford for a few days to get out of london. Saw that this was a halal buffet that’s is currently a takeaway due to Covid and was keen to try it. I ordered the crispy chilli beef, chicken with mushroom and the chicken Penang curry and 2 egg fried rice. It was DELICIOUS! First, they had 20% off on orders over £15, so I spent about £27 (minus delivery) which was reasonable for the amount of food I ordered (plenty for 2 people, enough for 3). In comparison I ordered 2 noodles from Pan Pan, which wasn’t very good, was £24 (minus delivery) and didn’t feel like enough food for two people. Second, the curries were really tasty, seasoned just right, not oily and the veg was cooked perfectly with a good crunch and flavour. Third, it was the fastest delivery, it got to me in 40 mins where other deliveries were over an hour. Really loved the food and will definitely visit again after Covid to try out the buffet. For now, if you are looking for decent halal takeaway I recommend this place.

Large buffet with good quality food. Focused on Indian, Chinese, and Thai food, a range of salads and starters are also available along with nice desserts. The food is good for a buffet restaurant and a perfect spot if you aren't sure what you want or you are with friends who want different things. £15 per person from Thursday to Sunday, and £14 other nights, so good value!
