Giggling Squid - Oxford

Ordered off of Deliveroo, the delivery was quick and all of the food was preserved so that did put a smile on my face. ✨ However one note for the giggling squid staff is to maybe number or create a system for big orders like mine (family of 8+) so that people don’t get confused and we can all eat what we wanted. We all managed to figure it out but we were all so confused whose was whose. In terms of the food. Fantastic. I’m not new to giggling squid, I’m quite familiar with the one in Chichester, but as I expected the food was delicious, tasty and warm.😊 This is definitely more in the pricer side as it is restaurant food, not fast food but the quality is beautiful so money won’t be wasted.

Nice Thai restaurant! We went for an early dinner after a matinee show and had the sharing platter and a Penang curry. The food was good. The service and atmosphere were a bit slow and lacking, but I think that was down to the time of day we went. The inside of the restaurant was nicely decorated and prices as I would expect. Would go back!

I visited the restaurant with an ex work colleague on a Thursday evening as I’ve been here before and really enjoyed the food we decided to book it again. This restaurant adds something different to Oxford and the decor is gorgeous. We got seated in the lovely booth. It did take a while for someone to come over to take our drinks order we had to ask someone to take it in the end as they seemed to be busy on a Thursday with not enough staff potentially? Priya came over and she was very lovely she recommended a cocktail to me as they have a 2 for 1 offer. I had a lychee cocktail and she recommended a passion fruit one which tasted so refreshing. Our drinks took a while to come as there was a backlog of orders to do but this was okay as we ordered a starter to share which was great value for money. The pork part was our favourite. We then had our mains and the lamb was 20/10. I’m not 100% sure what my roti dish was but picture has been inserted. I definitely wouldn’t get carby sides if you’re getting starters to share and a main dish as we weren’t able to eat our rice sides. The atmosphere on a Thursday was okay but I’d go again on a weekend as it’s definitely better then! Despite the slowish service I would definitely visit the restaurant again as these things happen and it was a lovely meal!

An open, festive, flowery environment welcomes you to the Giggling Squid. The helpful, friendly staff get your order quickly and the food arrives promptly. (and it's hot!) Pictured are a few of the dishes we tried. All were flavorful and fragrant. I'm a fan of coconut rice which we had in abundance. I'm not a fan of very spicy dishes and the staff was able to navigate me away from those and recommend some to my dining mates. I would definitely return to this restaurant for delicious Thai cuisine.

Open and airy, nice atmosphere, excellent staff with good allergen knowledge. Took a while to get served on a Saturday night but it was a relaxing meal since tables were not cramped. I’ve had better veggie green curries but the others loved their beef penang and rendang. Wine from £22/bottle, small beer from £5.50. Around £30/head for mains & drinks. Plenty of pubs nearby.

Upon entering the immediate impression was of a very pretty Thai themed environment, moreso once in the main dining area. From start to finish the team were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The menu is different, not overwhelming just very mouthwatering. We were advised on quantity, actually we were trying to over order. The food arrived very promptly, hot and fresh, perhaps because we were an early evening sitting. Take my advice and order the chubby cheek pork (left dish in photo), succulent and rich with flavour! 😋 Yes you'll pay a bit more than a more run of the mill restaurant but find an excuse to do so and have a fabulous meal!
