The Hayfield Deli

I've been working at the Deli for a couple of months now and It is by far the best place I've ever worked! The owner, Mahdy is super nice and friendly and he's an incredible chef too! The lunchboxes are by far my favourite but the the shop also has some really tasty things! I've really enjoyed working here as well as getting to know the lovely people around! If I could give more stars I would!!

Some of the best food i've ever eaten has come from this Deli!! Kind and friendly staff and you can tell everything is always put together with great love and care. There is always a variety of produce available and the shop frontage is beautiful with all of the colourful fruit and veg on display. One of the city's gems, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Some of the best middle-eastern food I've ever tasted. The lunch box is great value and there are meat or vegan options - all gluten free. Love that you can get fair trade and eco food here. The fresh fruit and veg out the front is always very high quality and really adds to the feel of the shop. Yes it's expensive, but Mehdi sells things you can't get elsewhere and I'd never have found sour cherries (that mixed with dark chocolate are delicious) nor Montezuma Black Forest chocolate if he hadn't trialled these. So nice to have a shop where the owner obviously really cares about what they sell.

This is absolutely my favourite deli in Oxford. The owner is so friendly, it has real character, and it's great to be able to pop in to grab some of his delicious fresh pastries, pies, and lunch boxes. I also really love being able to grab fresh produce from his lovely displays outside the shop; it makes the neighbourhood feel more vibrant, friendly, and alive. 10/10!

The Deli is a brilliant local shop that I've used for over 20 years. Mahdy makes tasty top quality Persian food and has grown the number and quality of fruits and veg on sale. He sells all you'll need and the shop is an important part of our community, particularly for those of us wanting or needing to stay close to home in these times. Mahdy and his team are super friendly, do drop in if you are nearby, you'll not be disappointed.

It’s a real privilege to have this deli here in Oxford. They are always warm & welcoming however much of little you buy, the food is beautiful & they are open & accessible to all. I can’t imagine cycling, walking, working or living in Jericho without them here. Supporting independence shops like this at all times but espresso during this last year is so important. Thank you for Always being consistently positive despite the challenges we are facing.

The Hayfield Deli is a hidden gem. Delicious home-made food, with an amazing lunch deal. Local products, including Port Meadow honey, fresh bread and eggs. Also stocks a fabulous range of deli products, inc. gluten free pastas, good-value wines, organic chocolate. Apparently the chef also offers a catering service, which I haven't tried, but will definitely try out on some occasion (post-COVID).
