Umami Burger

One of my favorite burger places in the Bay Area! Their burgers are creative, cooked/fried to perfection and just taste delicious. I've had the manly and the truffle, both exquisite in their own ways. They have a surprisingly large number of items with truffles, so the air smells of truffles and if that's your thing, you just have to try this place out. It can be a bit pricey at $14 a piece (not including sides!), but it's worth it if you are craving that perfect burger.

the place was library themed, and reletively small and cozy. they offered me handful of dips for fries and other sides. However, not a everyday burger place. you expect to spend around $50 for basic combo for two. (two burgers + two fries + two drinks) + street parking. It surely worth to visit maybe once in a week, but not more than that.

Got a beef burger ($12) and an impossible burger ($13) to try for the first time. Beef burger was very tasty, and the impossible burger (veggie patty with huge resemblance to an actual beef patty) was also surprisingly good. I dont think it tastes that mch like beef, but it's the closest I've ever tasted in a veggie patty. The main difference would be in the texture, its lighter (less dense) than beef. The umami burger has an interesting decor choice, with bookshelves and books all around the restaurant, not sure why they chose that theme. AC was a bit strong, but other than that, the restaurant was pleasant. My review is a 3 stars because: -1 star for the cheesy tater tots ($7) because they were super salty. First bite was yummy but last bites were hard to take. Only finished because I thought they were expensive and I should at least leave fully full. -1 star for overall pricing. $12 for the cheapest burger, with no sides (French fries at $2.5 for half a portion) or drink. More expensive than most other burgers (if not all) that I've had in the area. I understand it is not a fast food and I'm definitely not asking for. $5burger, but at $12it would be nicer if it came with basic French fries and then you could pay to upgrade them to other sides. We ended up paying $20/pp for just 1 burger and 3 tater tots each. We drank water.

So I am a huge fan of Umami Burger - PA. Service was friendly and attentive but not too attentive. Food was good and prices were fair. Server, did not catch his name, was all smiles and super helpful. He checked in a few times with me but definitely left me alone unless needed. I appreciate that. Waters were refilled regularly and it seemed like the staff worked well together to support one another. That is very rare IMHO. The food was excellent. I had the lollipop chicken in buffalo sauce with ranch dressing and the sunny side burger (burger cooked to medium with truffle oil and crisp arugula with a perfectly cooked sunny side egg on time. As I am trying to watch my carbs, i decided to get it wrapped in lettuce. My only complaint was it was not really wrapped in lettuce just sandwhiched between two slices of lettuce which is not the same thing. Umami Burger chefs, take a turn out of the INN-N-Out burger chains and check out their wrapped protein style burgers. That's what i'm expecting when ordering my burgers that way. Anywho... overall great experience and delicious food at a great price. I will be back.
