Proper Brick Oven and Tap Room offers an amazing pizza experience with a delightful brick oven touch. The pizza is unquestionably top-notch, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. However, there’s room for improvement in the dessert selection and some pasta flavors. Despite these minor tweaks, it’s a great spot, especially for pizza enthusiasts seeking an authentic and delicious experience. Solid 4 stars!

I wish I could leave SIX STARS! My husband and I always come to Proper when we are in town as we originally fell in love with this spot many years ago. This visit was extremely over the top. While I can’t say enough about their artisan bar tenders and craft cocktails that are always changing and always delicious, their food is equally as tastebud tantalizing. Our “go to” is the paggnotta which we were especially craving on our last visit, the week of Thanksgiving. We also enjoyed the pear salad that had the lightest most refreshing salad dressing. You will not be disappointed! But the true “piece de resistance” was the over the top, truly personalized, incredible service by ALL involved. Our paggnotta was just a tad undercook, really not a big deal, but they had no more to sell, and we came from FL for this delightful dish. I had just requested they simply nuke it- or throw it back in the oven for a couple seconds. The server, chef, management all went over and above to recreate our favorite dish AND comp’d it for us. Truly unbelievable service. In a day and age where customer service is really dying Proper has mastered making their customers feel special! We went back a second time in our 3 day trip to Pittsburgh and will forever sing their praises! Go here! Support this business! You will not be disappointed! My husband, daughter, and I stopped here for dinner before a show at the Benedum Center since it was so close. I ordered the Carbonara pasta with chicken, and my husband ordered the lasagna. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. We also both ordered a Pittsburgh mule. They were strong but not overpowering, very good. Afterward, we ordered dessert to share. We got the caramel apple cheesecake and chocolate cake and bothe were divine. The service and atmosphere were wonderful as well, and we would definitely visit again.

Overall, a good experience. The pizza was fantastic! The service was very good. We ate outside and it was a beautiful night with a good atmosphere. The salad was good but could have used a little more toppings (goat cheese, walnut, pear) and more dressing. I would return here to eat if I was ever in Pittsburgh again.

Hands down the best pizza in Pittsburgh. Been visiting the city for years now and there's plenty of pizza spots in the area but this one blows the competition away. Well worth the wait (if you have one), our waitress was very attentive and the restaurant is small but homey. Despite the size we didn't have to shout to hear each other.

Short walk from the convention center. Better food than expected. Couldn't find anything without a 2 hour wait after a basket ball tournament. Kept walking down the street until we walked right past this place. It's kind of turned back of the main street. Quickly greeted and sat. Our server was friendly and kept drinks full. Order came out quickly and correct. The calamari was better than expected. Of course the main draw is the wood fired pizza... Which doesn't disappoint. Would be nice if they didn't have such a strong smell of incense (to cover the weed smell). Would definitely stop back in.

Amazing pizza and fantastic selection of beers and cocktails. I opted for a Porter and an Imperial Stout - neither of which disappointed, and then treated myself to a spiked hot chocolate at the end which really hit the spot and was delicious. Extremely fast and friendly service. Just an overall great experience. I will definitely be back. 5 ⭐️ | HIGHLY recommend.
