Uncle Julio’s

We ate at this Crabtree Mall location a few months ago, and had a great meal, with exceptional service from our server (Stella). But, today I just found out this location has been closed for good. How sad.... I wish we had as good an experience at their Durham location previously, but having eaten there two or three times, it was not as good as the Raleigh restaurant. Oh well. The food industry is rough to survive in these days.

We’ve been meaning to go since Uncle Julio’s opened! Just went tonight. It was delicious!!! I wish I had taken pictures of the food. But we ate it before I thought of posting a review. We highly recommend!!! Great staff, fast service, delicious food. It was just amazing! The leftovers were eaten by our kids the moment we arrived home. They approve, enthusiastically!

The free salsa brought to the table may be the best I have eaten in my entire life. I ordered bacon wrapped shrimp and chicken fajitas. Not even sure there are words in the English language that can explain how good this was. Will definitely be back in the future. ***update*** went today and the experience was not as good. Very slow service and food took over 30 minutes to come out. Food quality was a fraction as it was the first visit. Youngest son got "ultimate nachos" which was about 10 nachos laid out with toppings. Not my definition of ultimate. Not sure we will be back. Shame after a stellar first visit.

After just getting back from a trip to Austin, eating some truly amazing TexMex street food, I was a little skeptical about enjoying a "chain" restaurant, but super glad I decided to give Uncle Julio's a try! Even the salsa that comes out with the thin crispy tortilla chips is amazing (I think mole is mixed in as a secret ingredient 🧐). The guac is bright, fresh, and delicious. The signature margaritas are a little pricey, but man are they worth it. 🍸 I got the barbacoa street tacos which were super tender and juicy - actually a bit more filling than you'd think ordering a plate with street tacos.

Visited during the Friday evening rush hour but loved the ambience, food and service. The portions were pretty big so we didn't order as many items as we'd initially anticipated. They served complimentary chips and salsa of which we got a couple of salsa refills. For drinks, we had the Fresh Margarita Of The Month and Julio's Gold. For food, we had the Grilled Fish Tacos and the Pechuga de Pollo. Loved everything. Highly recommend!

Good quick service. Julio Gold margarita is very tasty. I wasn't in love with the beef enchiladas, the cheese was overloaded and not my favorite taste wise. My partner got a substitute steak quesadilla, and that was excellent. All good quality, the salsa is very unique and good. Will be back to try something else.

We came in at 5:15pm for dinner. Our server was Sarah and she was amazing. She was extremely informative, she listed off the specials with extensive detail (those were not listed on the menu). My boyfriend ordered the queso tacos and I ordered the fajitas. The food was excellent, my only complaint is the bad marketing. We ordered the chocolate dessert ball, which is pictured with blackberries and raspberries. It was delivered and there were no raspberries or blackberries inside. Sarah remedied it immediately and brought me a dish of berries (that meant a lot to me). She was very cheerful and accommodating. We would come back just for the service alone, she was that good of a server. 12/10 would recommend. If you do dine here, ask for Sarah and tip her extra.

Wonderful TexMex food. The Guacamole was delicious. Our server was Tyler who was AMAZING. She was professional, personable, and just great at her job. Even on a crazy evening she was all smiles and holding everything together. I noticed every table she worked she did it with that smile and friendliness that puts everyone in a good mood. The only disappointment was the fact Julio's ran out of tortillas! By the time we waited on the cooks to make more our fajitas were cold. The manager offered to make us a new batch of fajitas but we'd already waited so long on the tortillas it just wasn't feasible.
