Jackie's On Laburnum

I attended Jacckie's on the third Sunday of December for the buffet. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious. The buffet had a variety of food from fried fish to fried chicken to baked chicken to meatloaf to mashed potatoes and gravy to mac and cheese to string beans to cabbage to yams to rolls to dessert. You can't beat the price for the buffet I say of $19.99 per person. I plan to return back next month with my family.

I’m not a cooking type of person and I was trying to tell my daughter what exactly soul food was. I told her 'soul' was a word used to describe Black culture and nothing beats soul food for heartiness, comfort, and flavor. So I told her I know a place not too far from the house. When she tried the fried whiting, fried chicken, smothered chicken, meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, mac and cheese, string beans, cabbage, and chocolate cake she was like I never had a buffet with so many GOOD and correctly seasoned options. I laughed at that point I knew she was impressed. She never eats all her food. The sweet tea was so good. She said it felt like it was thanksgiving. Everything was so good and the temperature of the food and amount of seasoning used was perfect. I told her many of the recipes passed down through generations just to make the “soul food” topic stick in her head forever... lol Thank you to Carleen for having an establishment that was family friendly, clean, and minimal wait time for the food line. The portions of food are worth the money. I recommend trying this restaurant.

Rhela was amazing & efficient. Our dinner came out super fast & the staff took really good care of us throughout the evening. Peppy was just as gracious and attentive and made sure that we got everything we needed. Great food, great people & and the food was as good as the first time we had it. Thank you to the team at Jackie’s for always coming through for us!

Where do I began, music was so atmosphere appropriate, orders literally came out within 10-15 minutes or placing our order. Food was cooked to PERFECTION. )No one had to send anything back) Lets talk about our waitress Crystal baby She held us all the way down. Let me start by saying we had around 20 -25 people in our party sis did not miss one single order or request, every tab was correct there wasn't a whole bunch of hidden fees or (large party) errors. Literally EVERYTHING ran smooth like butter. Crystal thank-you for being so kind, attentive, and professional, you were amazing. It was a pleasure to go out as a large party and not get the typical im an overwhelmed underpaid waitress attitude, Crystal you are a jewel. Literally the only time the waitress was so good I paid gratuity plus a little tip. SHE DESERVED IT. Whoever is in the back cooking knows what they are doing food was on point. The owner Carleen took the time to come speak not once but twice even took time to wish our church mother a happy birthday. I'm a forever patron. No need to read any more reviews on this restaurant if you want good food, good service, and great entertainment look no further. Thank you Jackies 💓

First time eating at Jackie's soul food restaurant and it was delicious. The food, the service, the atnosphere, the music and even the lemonade was great. Thank you Jackie, you have it going on. We will be back..Came all the way from Gloucester, Va to Richmond, Va. and it was definitely worth the drive to Jackies!

Maybe the best catfish I've ever had in my life. I just wish it was a combo that had more than two pieces. The cornbread was also out of this world good. Holy moly. I've only been here three times but between the catfish and the cornbread... Greens & cabbage, what more could you ask for? I can't wait to come through Richmond again so I can stop by!

Me and my former coworkers get together once every other month for ladies day. This time I would choose the place to eat because I heard about Jackie’s on the radio as well as word of mouth. Also it was my birthday. We all agreed this was where we were going. My coworkers live close to the restaurant. Unfortunately I live quite a distance. Actually I live in Colonial Heights. But imma tell you !!!!! It was well worth the drive and we will definitely be back !!!! The service was amazing. Crystal was so sweet and very professional. The meal was delicious. I had Jumbo wings , my friends had smothered pork chops and chicken Philly . It was so good. They gave us a nice portion size . The prices are very reasonable. That Long Island Ice tea was on point !!!! Thanks to you for a wonderful dinner and exceptional service. Me and my girls will definitely return . My husband and I were invited to dinner by friends from Smithfield, VA to wish us well as we are about to relocate to Myrtle Beach, SC. We selected Jackie’s because of what we had heard. We were not disappointed. The fish, shrimp and chicken were hot, crispy, and delicious. And the Mac and Cheese was just right. And the collard greens, oh my! I could go on and on about the food. But our waitress, Crystal J provided outstanding service. She was attentive, accommodating and very pleasant. Hats off to Jackie’s on Laburnum!
