Went through the drive thru and everything was great! Customer service was great, we even added an extra combo at the window, no attitude just great food and generous portions. I've been eating at this establishment since childhood.... WAY TO GO MURFS!!! KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING.

$8.99 for a double deluxe meal. They give you a 32oz drink(no tea of any kind available. Must have brewed iced tea in Texas!) and a good amount of the old school crinkle cut fries. Burger is made pretty well with the bun also being toasted both sides. Meat patties are kinda small. I’m thinking slightly larger than the Big Mac patties. I feel they should cook them 30 seconds to a minute less than they are now because the patties are small and thin, they are really over cooked and dry. Little less time will keep them juicier and that would help flavor. Also, on something called a double deluxe, there should be 2 slices of cheese, not one. It’s American cheez which isn’t even actual cheez. Real cheddar would be much better. Overall they have a fair price compared to other “old school” type burger joints and the food is good. No, it’s not going to blow your mind but it also won’t blow out your wallet. As with every burger joint in San Antonio, I think having a good home made salsa available (doesn’t cost much to make an huge amount) should be available if not mandatory . This is San Antonio. Salsa is life! No, I’m not hispanic.

Flavor: A Service: A Tea: F Solo dining: A For a fast-food-type burger (but better, as the name says), this place hits the spot. Everything was hot and fresh. The burger had good flavor. They could amp it up with offering tea.

An older place but don't let appearance fool you. These burgers are really good. Nice flavor and a great value for the amount of food you receive. The burger is juicy and not dry. This is a small burger joint in town but a hidden gem. They also have half price burgers on Thursday after 5. The fries are good and you're going to receive hot food and not preheated food. Make no mistake this is a fastfood burger but certainly better than others. Don't judge a book by its cover you won't be disappointed!

Good ol’ Murf’s, at 2922 West Avenue, in Dellview (where I grew up) right on the cusp on Los Angeles Heights, is the very last Murf’s in San Antonio. It was originally a Whopper-Burger and was also the Whopper-Burger company headquarters (not sure from when to when) - side note, the very first Whopper-Burger is just down the street, at 1418 West Avenue in Los Angeles Heights (and is now the home of “Water Works Plumbing & Irrigation”) - so Whopper-Burger was started by a fella named Ralph Bates in 1954 and by 1966 they had nine locations (and twenty by 1983, the year Bates died), and later on in the mid-‘80s Burger King couldn’t sell their signature burger the “Whopper” here in SA and so they bought the Whopper-Burger name and then they closed ‘em all down - the Whopper-Burger name was officially erased off the face of the planet. But the Bates family kept the old Whopper-Burger on N. St Mary’s and turned it into “Burger Boy” (utilizing the old WB “Burger Boy” mascot) and have been expanding like crazy the last couple of years (and really, replacing Whataburger for a ton of folks here in San Antonio (like me) after they got sold (and the quality and service went downhill - which usually happens when a regional chain goes national, it just loses its special-ness - but this is just my opinion and we all know what that’s worth (zero) while this location became Murf’s, and then there was a second Murf’s at 7102 San Pedro in the Shearer Hills-Ridgeview, neighborhood, which was recently demolished and is now a car wash. I don’t know if Murf’s was ever associated with Whopper-Burger like Burger Boy is - does anyone here know the story about who “Murf” is? - but what I DO know is that Murf’s makes a mighty tasty burger (that’s basically the same burger as Burger Boy and I love Burger Boy) and that every Thursday night from 5:00-11:00 is “Half Price Burger Nite!” 3 Cheers 4 Murf’s Better-Burger = (finally some) Truth in Advertising!
