Maybeck's

I didn't know of this place but a friend brought me here after telling me its ownership was related to a restaurant i used to love but that closed. Maybeck's is my kind of place. It's like a Pacific rim-influenced brasserie. Great wine selection with a terrific sommelier and I always like to see sake options. They have inventive and satisfying small plates if you'd rather share and maybe 7 mains if that's what you're into. Or just go with the tasting menu and let it unfold before you.

Excellent all around. I had one of the most interesting and delicious cocktails I've ever had (and believe me, I've had a few), the olive oil washed martini. Food is delicious, you can get an elevated experience with roasted cod collar with miso or crispy duck wings or something more accessible like their textbook perfect version of a smashburger. My parents would love the petit filet with twice baked potato. And you must get dessert, even if you end up taking some home. My current favorite is their signature blackout cake which comes with an itty bitty side of ice cold malted milk. Last night we also had a scoop of the housemade bailey's fudge ice cream, which was so fabulous it made me want to inquire if they would sell it by the pint. I managed to show some restraint, though, and will just wait to have more at my next visit. A true San Francisco gem with a sophisticated yet comfortable and friendly vibe. And there is usually easy meter parking on Lombard.

Excellent neighborhood bar with great dining options. A grown-up oasis away from the more frantic spots along nearby Chestnut Street. Great mixed drinks, but the weekly specials in the dining room are the star attraction. Offers vary through the week but might feature half-priced bubbles, racks of ribs or the sublime lobster spaghetti. Be sure to ask the price before you order the lobster, or maybe don't, enjoy your meal and worry about that later.

We came in on the weekend and really enjoyed our happy hour at the bar - we didn't have much, but everything was uniformly on point. Really solid classic cocktails, and the fried chicken sandwich was excellent. Chill vibe at the bar and a very pleasant way to spend our afternoon - can't ask for much more from HH.

Great happy hour drink and snack specials, that includes classic cocktails beer and wine. It also includes bar snacks like Rosemary french fries, fried pickles and oysters. Great place to go and have a drink and meet friends. Also seemed very popular for dinner. Though you probably should have a reservation if you plan to eat dinner there.
