Salsa and tacos were good but the salsa needs more jalapeños as it was weak as a limp noodle.
Beer selection is good if you like IPAs

It's only goo when you're starving.
Advice for folks to eat prior to getting here and only buy few items as a snack.

Got a falafel wrap for $13. It was cold and soggy and the falafel was dry and undercooked. Portion size was okay and the herbs were fresh at least. I ate it.

Went to the Bowl for lunch, ordered tofu, brown rice, broccoli, mushrooms, and zucchini. Cost was about $15. EVERYTHING was ice cold besides the lukewarm tofu and rice. The vegetables sitting on top of the rice very quickly made it cold as well. This is definitely not a great option for food in an establishment such as this. Very disappointing, however we were quickly refunded which was the only redeeming quality.

Not your "only place available to eat" quality of food, but wouldn't recommend if you're not hungry. I had the clam chowder in a bread bowl and it was ok.
I think they charged for the extra tiny bread (without stating it would be charged) or the taxes in their food are really high.
They claim their food is locally (CA state) grown, so they have that going for them.
Lots of varieties (pizza, deli, burgers, pasta, soups).

While art museums often have elegant or delicious dining options, the same can't usually be said for the cafes in science centers. The Academy Cafe breaks the mold, offering a range of tasty options sure to satisfy all diners from the pickiest kids to foodies. The prices are on the high end for a cafeteria, but the quality and selection will make you feel like you're not compromising just because you want to eat at the museum.

Even though it's mainly cafeteria style food, this place is excellent to grab a quick bite when you visit the Cal Academy. It has everything that a child or child at heart would want to eat. Plus, it has plenty of healthy and vegan options.
Tip: Members get 10%. Make sure to show your card when you pay to receive the discount. Sometimes they even have special member deals, like a free dessert. (Try their cookies. #nomnom)
