The Press Room

We showed up here on a Saturday night and it was empty. Once we got inside, it all made sense. Jack (the owner) and his other mate in flip flops with webbed feet should not be in the customer service business. They were arrogant, abrasive, and Jack filled the entire venue with the smoke from his tomato flavored electronic cigarette. If you’re looking for a good time with a nice atmosphere and great customer service, go across the street to Dargan’s. With all that said, Darryl (working the front door at the time) was absolutely wonderful. He’s the only good thing Press Room has going for them. Cheers.

The Press Room is a small and very authentic pub right in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. In the 20 years I’ve been going, the decor and great beverage selections have always been just what you are looking for. This is hands down the BEST place to watch a soccer match. The owner is passionate about the sport and loves to help other soccer fans get to see their team play, no matter which team they support. Stop by the Press Room, have a pint and see for yourself. Fantastic place. We watched France v Germany in the Euros (soccer). Many fans of each side. Everyone friendly, even admiring the interim successes of the opposing side. I think we were the odd ones out, many of the customers clearly knew the barkeep and his young helper, and each other. You know, locals, comfortable, efficient in the way that comes with long experience, smooth with no frills. We'd go there again in a minute. You should too.
