Real Ice Cream

This place another name ... Bangalore Cafe. Along with regular South Indian fare, this place also serves classics from the southern state of Karnataka. They also have a wife selection of homemade sweets and savories, with their Maddur Vada topping the charts for me. Of course they also serve real ice cream, mainly Indian flavors like kesar, Alfonso, paan etc. It's a sit down cafe with self service. Don't expect great ambience, but it's quiet and comfortable. People usually come here for a quick bite and to pick some snacks. There is no restroom inside the cafe but they have one outside which I believe they share with a nearby car wash. So best to avoid that. My personal favorites are their masala dosa and Maddur Vada. They've been in this location for more than a decade and the quality hasn't gone down a bit. I'm giving there stars because for a sit down restaurant they don't have the ambience that deserves a 4 or a 5. But their food is definitely 5 stars.

This establishment has been around for decades. I have been a customer since 1987! The ice cream is unique - egg less - with choice of exotic flavors. Authentic Indian street food menu is elaborate and... Authentic! Mouth-watering! Papdi-chat, Dahi-batata-sev-puri, ragda-pattis, oh I should stop or I'll have to visit them now! Their Southern Indian cuisine menu is yet another gastronomic exploration! All vegetarian - you'll never even notice the absence of meat! Dosa, idli, vada, uttapam, each to die for! This review is about the ice creams only! Nice selection of desi flavors. The ice cream itself has a little more overrun compared to premium ice creams but they were very consistent with the texture. Some nice bold flavors - my favorite was the paan. Other good ones include tutti fruity, sitaphal, mango, guava. Service and ambience is typically desi too :-) .. i’d have been wary had it been great. They’ve got a good product- they’re not out to win hearts with their service. Don’t come in expecting stellar service.
