The Buffet

My wife and I had brunch, and there were a lot of items to choose from. I thought international items would be offered, but American cuisine is the only items offered. The omelets were a bit too oily, but fresh ingredients are available to make a custom omelet. The salad bar was good, and stocked with a wide variety of ingredients. Overall the taste of the food was average and the service is also average.

Good food. Had the seafood buffet. Plenty of crab available. Kind of long line waiting to be seated, but not terrible. Only real complaint was the drinks. The water in the casino and restaurant was horrible. It effected every dri k as they just carbonate it and add drink syrups. To the tea and the Dr. Pepper taste like swamp water. Really put me off my dinner.

Tonight was steak night. People had to line up like cattle to get steak. The slices that were precooked were cooked so fast they taste like burnt blood. And you always have to stand and wait at the carving station and dessert station even if noone is in line ahead of you. The line chef behave as though you requesting ribs or a slice of cake is wrong and please do not ask for both cuts of meat or more than one of the locked up desserts. Sometimes it's not all bad. Your table servers and host are normally very friendly and welcoming

This visit has been horrible. My husband had to hunt down the subpar steaks (even though it's advertised as steak night) and a plate. The chicken was pink. See the picture. There's not much of a variety for the price they charge, even with ten dollars of it comped. The Sportsman's grill $7.77 steak plate was much better than these steaks. The waitress and staff were pretty friendly, it was just way subpar for an expensive buffet.

This review is only my opinion. I want to say up front that I am not a fan of buffets of any kind. The buffet here at El Dorado was included in a class I took that was held at El Dorado so I didn't pay for it. With that said, it was clean and well-maintained. The food wasn't dry like some buffets from sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The salad bar was excellent and had an extensive selection. In fact, I might go so far as to say it's the best salad bar in the area. The hot bar was okay. It was typical buffet food not unlike the food you'd get at any other buffet. They did use a little more spices in some of the dishes than you'd normally see, but it isn't anything to write home about. The food wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. It's typical pre-made, prepackaged, frozen fare. The waitstaff, while friendly and attentive, seemed a little confused about whose section was whose. Since I was part of a group, many of us had to actually track down a server for silverware. It didn't seem the front of house manager was doing a good job managing. The bottom line is this: if you are comped the buffet, go but I wouldn't pay for it out of my own pocket. Given the regular price of the buffet, I would recommend the Sportsman's Paradise Cafe at El Dorado instead. It's very good.

If I could give a negative zero I would! ! So quick story about what happened to us at El Dorado Cafe in the El Dorado casino in Bossier City, LA. So we came out here with the kids for my dads b'day. My dad went to the casino we went up to the cajun buffet with the kids. My mom asked the lady if we could pay for the adults (it was 4 adults) she said yes, we paid and she seated us. I told my stepsister I'm not feeling this, we should have ate downstairs, something just didn't feel right but my mom said the food was good so we stayed. We gave the kids a few slices of pizza, the manager said since the kids are eating then you have to pay for them. My mom told her that the lady said they didn't have to pay for the kids but ok fine we pay for them over $100 because we had 9 kids. So a manager happen to be walking past the table and I said excuse me can I have some tobasco sauce. She looked at me like I asked her to go make me a plate, rolled her evil blue eyes and walked off and didn't say a word. This pissed my mom off, so the lady walked by and my mom said excuse me but my daughter asked you for something and you looked at her with a nasty look. So she's playing dumb, my mom said ok youre looking surprised so just keep walking and my mom shooed her away. So I see her talking to a man in a suit and they kept looking our way, I told my mom I think that's her manager, we need to talk to him. So my mom waived him down, he came to the table and he said well the kids were eating and she said you needed to pay. My mom said ok that's fine but why did she have an attitude and have the staff watching us like we're stealing. She said the kids were causing commotion, then the kids got offended and said they didn't do anything, which we knew because we were watching them the whole time. So he said you don't have to leave, so he goes back to talk to her then comes back and tells us we have to leave after he just said we could stay. My mom asked for her money back, this evil lady gave her a hard time and wrote down the GM's number. I took the number from my mom to make sure it was right and it was the direct number to the restaurant. So I asked the lady at the front who were the managers working and she said Wendy and Melinda so yes they have not heard the last from me!!!!
