Down South Cajun Seafood

The owner's sister mentioned they had relocated THREE times. So, if there's any confusion with the locations, this is why. The interior is very eye-catching. I could tell they spent a lot of time trying to make it entertaining. The sister that took my order was very nice, energetic, and made interaction so easy. In fact, a few customers in there with us were in a chain of chats together. I kind of shot myself in the foot though. Because it's a black business, I wanted to swipe my card fast, and ended up spending around $30. I ordered a dozen shrimp, grilled shrimp poboy and a half size shrimp fried rice. The rice as very good and unique. However the dozen shrimp barely had any type of signature taste. I brought the food home and my family barely had an opinion of it. My mother who normally loves shrimp just stared at it for awhile and only ate two of them. Never gave me any type of feedback which really disappointed me. Anyway, overall Customers service great, but food...OK.

I did not know this place was here because I’m not from Shreveport, came here because I was working found out it was Down South Cajun Restaurant, NOT SAMS! I would recommend this place the only thing I didn’t like was the Ice-T it was not sweet enough for ME but everything else was on point! If you wanna talk about football this is the place for you LOL. I felt right at home when i walked in. The guy that took my order was so polite. You guys need to check this place out! I WILL BE BACK! The pic i posted was $12.49....Yes all that! With the drink! Six Jumbo shrimp two catfish, french fries, Tea and a Coke!

Man, talk about great seafood and friendly service, this was it. What a surprise to happen by this place and discover catfish fried to the perfect crispness, served hot and seasoned great. The fried shrimp was super fresh and tasty, not over battered but just enough to be crisp and protect wonderfully fleshy, clean tasting shrimp. Oh and the rice and gravy...the best gravy I've ever had from a restaurant! It's on my list to come back.

*Down home greatness* The fish here is sooo delicious! Our hostess was very friendly and accommodating, it actually felt like we were visiting a favorite aunt's home. We were so glad that we passed up the commercial fast food joints and found this gem. The food was made fresh and came out quickly, the restaurant is very clean, the portion sizes were very filling and the prices are reasonable.
