Origami Sushi

This place is excellent. Its not much to look at when you first walk in. Maybe even a bit disorganized but the food is well worth it. Inside dining area is small and was packed when we went there. They actually had to turn a few people away. Outside eating area is nice weather permitting. Food portions are massive and fresh. I got the Chirashi and it had big thick cuts of fresh fish. Rice was perfectly sticky. Free refills on drinks is nice too.

I've been to hundreds of sushi restaurants and had some high hopes for this one in Silverdale. My daughter said it had great reviews and I said let's go. The first appearance was below standard, but when I opened the door I saw a beautiful alcohol display to the left but then to the right was another below standard seating area. I was thinking to myself this place has good food don't leave. So we sat down at a very wobble table and hard seats. They have a huge menu and lots of amazing food to choose from. The waitress was very nice and always checking up on us. My daughter asked for the bubble tea stuff and she could only drink about 1/4 of it. She said the more she drank the more it tasted like soap. I guess they washed the machine recently. My sushi was overly big and my rice was not fresh at all it seemed like it was from last night. It was small, smashed together and it was hard to pull them apart. The presentation was there and it looked good. After I was done eating (did not want to eat all of it.) I looked around more and started to realize how dirty and unorganized the place was. Saw boxes and upside-down chairs and other things laying about. Flys and spiders at least in my area. If you're looking for a good sushi spot keep looking.

Huge menu, very diverse, lots of pictures makes it easier to order. The milk tea is VERY good and I appreciate the server asking if we wanted it over ice or blended. The fish on all the sushi was really thick, and the rice was the perfect temperature and consistency. I feel like some of the flavors were a bit mild, like the ginger was mild, and so was the tempura sauce. They have some of the rare stuff I like to see - like amaebi and uni. Will return often!

So disappointing. It wasn't even edible. I got albacore nigiri and I couldn't even chew it. It was so tough and it has those white strings like cartilage and that's what you can see in my photo. I also noticed halfway through that I felt very sick.....so nauseous I couldnt even drink water. I've been eating sushi for years and I've never had this happen. The staff saw that I barely ate anything and did not ask how it was or if anything was wrong. I was very polite and I didn't complain, I just won't be back and I won't recommend them to anyone. Just go to Hakata's, they're nearby and I've never had any issues with their sushi, they have a real sushi chef who knows what he's doing. I don't think these people do. I have clients that ask me about good restaurants in the area and I definitely will be telling them to stay away from this place. My sister didn't like most of her food either. So we wasted $50 on gross food. I felt a little bad cause that's probably the lowest tip I've ever left in my life but they never asked me if everything was OK, and they for sure saw I didn't eat it cause they asked if I wanted a box. So I felt they didn't deserve a good tip and I already wasted so much money when I didn't even eat most of it. When you're food is inedible they shouldn't charge you for it...so bottom line just go to Hakatas and don't waste your time, money or risk your health. Really hope I don't have anything, I'm so busy at work right now
