Duke's Tavern

O'Connell's bar changed hands last year. It used to be Duke's bar. Duke's had been in the same family since prohibition. It's now owned by 1 of Duke's decades long bartenders. The O'Connell's have updated the establishment making it more comfortable and family friendly. It's a pleasant neighborhood bar in the heart of downtown Springfield. They carry a good beer selection both draft & bottles along with a full assortment of mixed drinks. They offer entrees, sandwiches and bar food in a smoke free environment. Because of Covid restrictions they have social distancing with seating at tables. There are plenty of flat screens to watch sports. O'Connell's is known for having live music on weekends. I hope they will continue to offer live music as Covid restrictions allow.

Literally we were driving by and took a chance! It was exactly as it should be, a nice neighborhood tavern that was welcoming to a couple of strangers that stopped in for a pint or two. Yes, they serve GUINNESS! Food was comfortable, and tasty! The tavern has plenty of LARGE screen tvs for watching the Phillies from any point of view! We sat near the bar at a pub table, but they have a separate dining area where you could sit at a table away from the bar.
