The Bishops Cave Ltd

Found this gem whilst visiting St. Alban's over the weekend. The wine and cheese selections were amazing, and the staff were so knowledgeable and kind. We had run out of room to finish our cheese board as we'd been snacking all day, and asked if we could take what was left with us. The waitress offered to wrap everything in cling film. She brought everything back in a bag, and it was all individually wrapped, including one solitary cracker. I have been laughing about this for days. She must have thought we were totally insane to request she wrap one solo cracker, but never let on, bless her.

The best cheese and wine shop in St Albans. We have been here many times, and it never disappoints. We always choose the mix board with cheese and meat. Nevertheless, I could see with the time that the portions are starting to get smaller than they used to be before. There is a nice variety of cheeses. Customer service is really friendly and quick. I really recommend this place.

Heard great things from a few friends so booked a table for me and the missus(Highly recommend booking). Was unsure of the whole cheeseboard deal so our waiter took me up the front and walked me through the options. The low lighting sets the mood without making the place too dark. Everything was amazing, I cannot recommend this place enough.

My must stop when I’m in St Albans. This is a lovely relaxed wine bar with friendly, knowledgable and attentive staff. It’s down to earth with a mix of wines beers and ciders. The wine list is always fun with a nice mix so you can really compare varietals if you’re learning to taste. The food is excellent and I almost always order a scotch egg or pork pie with home made piccalilli.

Stunning place with the most incredible cheese board selection. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and size, and the drinks were great value too. If heading for an evening out, skip dessert and have cheese here instead, you’ll be glad you did! We shared 2 cheese boards between 5, and we were stuffed! Staff were very friendly and efficient too. It’s a must visit if heading into St Albans.
