Daylight Donuts

I used to love to come here on my bicycle as a kid and grab some donuts with my friends. This last experience however was underwhelming. Came here with my two kids on Saturday ~6AM to grab some fresh donuts and got a variety of apple fritters, cake donuts, and bars. They weren't fresh donuts like I expected, they were at LEAST a day old. Sad to see one of my favorite donut shops from my childhood disappoint. I don't know if I'm going to come back again, I'd like to give DD another chance, but I can get better/more fresh donuts from any grocery store around.

Every time I've gone to Daylight Donuts in St. George I've had the same experience. I wait in line for about twenty minutes, looking at the half-empty display case trying to decide which donuts to select that are still available, because I don't want to be one of the folks who orders something not ready and has to wait again. Once I get to the front of the line, the experience improves dramatically. The donuts themselves are perfectly serviceable, the "standard" donuts being quite similar to Shipley's, and the service is fine but not outstanding. The prices are pretty standard fare for a donut shop. Given the lack of competition I would say I can recommend Daylight, but if another donut shop opens that does a better job of forecasting demand and processing orders so I don't have to invest an hour of my day to pick up a dozen, I'll probably change my tune.
