Kimchi Korean Restaurant

I used to frequent this restaurant before the pandemic. The wait staff usually did a great job, so they get 4.5 stars. The food at that time was (and still is) very Americanized, but that goes without saying. I gave 2 stars after returning after more than 2 years because the prices have significantly increased (somewhat understandable), but most importantly, this restaurant is still requiring their employees to wear masks, which is absolutely ridiculous. Get over the fear. As a long-time resident in the area, I'm not sure I'll be back, which is really sad, because the food is decent enough to warrant returning.

One of the few Korean restaurants in the area. We ordered rice cakes, yookaejang, spicy seafood noodle soup and kids bulgogi. Rice cake was nice and soft. A little expensive for the amount you get. Great portions for the rest especially the kids meal. Side dishes are a no. Kimchi was too ripe and very fishy. Cucumber was ripe too. I prefer them a little crispier and fresher. Overall okay experience considering there are not many Korean restaurants in State College, PA area. Food taste wise I'm comparing with Korean restaurants found in the DMV area.

This was the first time for my wife and I trying Korean food. It did not disappoint ! I had the spicy seafood udong and she had the Galbi Dolsot. Both meals were super filling and had the perfect amount of spice. Our meals came with a soup, kimchi, hot pickles and fish balls, which were also endless side dishes. Our server was extremely nice to top off the experience. Can’t wait to come back.

Wait staff were very good. Food is good at best. Had the seafood tofu. It was fine but I can easily make better at home. Small portions. I’m used to getting quite a few more side dishes. Larger cities will have better Korean. But for State College? If you’ve never had Korean then this is a good starting place.

I have ordered kimchi for so many times and the rice cake as well as the fish Tofu are my favorite. Besides, recently I just noticed that the 辣炒五花肉is also very delicious.
