Not a big fan of either the presentation or the taste of some of their dishes (especially the grilled squid and mushrooms sorry). The cigarette is definitely a must-have tho🌟🌟 The atmosphere in the restaurant makes it more like a family restaurant :) lighting isn’t good if you are aiming to take good pictures of your food.

Definitely contemporary Japanese. The cigar is a must have, and while confusing at first as to what it is it makes sense when you take your first bite. Filled with tuna or salmon, the outside has a nice crisp texture while the "ash" has a surprisingly tasty umami. The maguro hana is also one to try, and also has quite an interesting texture. Would also recommend the maki tempura roll, was the first sushi with a tempura coating. Gave it a bit of a crunch which was quite refreshing. Other dishes were quite average, agedashi tofu didn't really have that glutinous shell (was more just like a deep fried tofu), seared salmon roll could've been seared more, kingfish carpaccio needed to be eaten with a bit of soy sauce to counterbalance some of the overdone sourness. Food also came out quite slow, but I guess that is more just the environment of the place. You can see it's just two chefs making everything in a little kitchen. So in that sense quite intimate. Overall not a bad place to try for their speciality dishes. Just know that they outshine many of the other items on the menu.

The purpose of this review is just to provide honest feedback. I'm just a normal guy who loves Japanese food. Came here starving and keen for tasty stuff. To be fair they are a small shop but doesn't change the fact that service was slow and the food quality wasn't there. -maguro hana, this was tasty, took a while to come out and was the first dish we sampled. Then went down-hill. -kingfish carpaccio, seasoning wasn't quite there. The table soy was tastier. Also the kingfish itself was tough, probably from the tail portion so texture was more chewy. -newstyle combo, the most disappointing of all. Presentation was shocking..as in the fish slices resembled shrivelled up scraps. There was so much sauce it was like soup and the sauce itself lacked flavour. Stingy with the ikura...I could count the amount of roe. kingfish collar, was burnt...received 1 collar and a slab of the actual head with little to no meat. Also a lemon wedge would have been nice for grilled fish....anyways just a personal opinion. Just felt ripped off with this dish. seared salmon roll, rice texture was more like sticky rice. anyway...was starving and just wanted to get out so would say it was edible but nothing to rave about. None of the sauces had any flavour. Please taste your sauces chef... All items were ala carte. And most dishes were just raw fish slices and rice that can be prepped ahead of time....so yeah was not pleased to be spending 1.5hours here waiting for food. We just wanted to support local businesses but maybe we still want decent food. the couple sitting next to us also seemed to be unimpressed. The lighting in the place is shocking....

Picked the ‘Sashimi Platter, Otoro Nigiri, RK San Tuna Cigar and Soft Shelled Crab Hand roll’ total cost $$69 for two people, booked through theFork. The cigar is very unique, strong aroma and flavour Sashimi was very fresh, I believe you can also swap to nigiri for the same price. Soft shell crab really crispy.

Had a 9 courses Omakase, tbh it’s more like a setting menu than an Omakase! I would recommend to give it a go at cigar and maguro han. Other than that, the rest of the courses are pretty boring and disappointing. The pork dish had a really strong, discernible porky smell. We only had just one bite and couldn’t eat more. And look how little filling they had in their sushi, even sushi hub is way more generous. Lastly the dessert yuki, I can only say it has nothing to do with the pic they showed on their menu. Nice try but will not come back :(

Outstanding! Fresh, tasty and different! We decided to give RK San a go tonight as we’re big fans of Japanese food but don’t usually stray far from our favourite few as most just aren’t that good. After tonight, we have a new favourite on the list! The food is a modern take on Japanese food and they do it very well! The produce is fresh and the dishes are so good it’s hard to pick a favourite. Ok, we actually ordered a second round of Snapper Ceviche so that’s probably my number 1! The service is also attentive and friendly, they served one dish at a time which was perfect to enjoy each dish properly. Do yourself a favour and give these guys a go, we I’ll be back very soon!

This one of the best place for Japanese food. Great hospitality, great food and drink. We enjoy all the Dish from chef. Please don’t forget to try signature chef creation “cigar roll with sake”. Thank you RK san team.

Went on a Tuesday night. Food was great. The seared scallop salad and the kingfish collar were a stand out. Would go back just to have the collar with rice. Hot sake was yummy 🙂 The squid robata was oversalted, the restaurant was happy to take it back and take it off our bill. Will come back to try other things on the menu!
