Cafe Con Leche

What an awesome cafe/restaurant! I've never had Colombian food before and was highly impressed not only of the quality and taste of the food but also it's presentation. The atmosphere of the place is absolutely warm and wonderful with gracious service with a smile and an owner who is genuinely concerned that you've enjoyed your meal and the hospitality. Definitely have the hot chocolate with cheese 🧀 🍫😍 you can even buy Colombian day to day goods and household supplies at this lovely little gem in Surry Hills.

Original review: 2018 Photos posted: 2019 I've lived 5 minutes away from this place for the good part of a year, and never managed to try it out. Now that I'm moving away, I knew it was now or never. I went with a friend, and we had the Arepa Rellena and scrambled eggs with guacamole respectively, along with the famed Colombian hot chocolate with cheese, yep, cheese. The hot chocolate was pure indulgence and so comforting. It comes in a little metal jug with a wooden molinillo (a churner thing), and a cup with a chunk of cheese in it. I admit, we got this drink for the novelty factor. I don't know what the cheese was meant to do, it just went soft a while after we poured the hot chocolate on top, but didn't melt, or make its presence felt. The Arepa Rellena however was like a bite of nostalgia. I'm not Colombian, but it took me back to a bread similar to arepas made from rice flour my grandmother used to make for me. It was filled with just the right amount of pulled beef, and guacamole, with maybe a hint of chilli peppers. Together, the arepa and hot chocolate made for a filling late breakfast. My friend was wholly satisfied with her dish as well. I wish I'd gone here sooner, but maybe I'll just move back to Darlinghurst. Soul satisfying food is definitely a valid reason to move houses, am I right?

Delicious food!!! My husband and I tried the share platter, amazing arepas! A lot of food, enough for two people. We also shared an empanada, it was tasty!. The coffee (cafe con leche) reminded me of home! The hot chocolate was awesome as well, loved that it came with a little piece of white cheese, first time I tried it that way and I really enjoyed. We are from Venezuela so we love good latin food and we’ll definitely go back! Oh! The Alfajor was delicious also!!!!
