With so many small bars opening up and trying to fight for they're own identity I can understand it's hard to come up with a new theme. I did really like this place, the staff were excellent and the food and drinks were amazing and you could even get a really decent house wine. I think it's still in it's growing phase as a bar and I look forward to going back in a little while and see how they've changed.

Cool little fit out, nice selection of beers in the fridge (Feral Brewing Co is always welcome) and the do make some powerful cocktails... I think the last one on the list, the "Grog Zombie" says it all. Play has the easy going vibe, gives out some seasoned popcorn for the table and it generally vibes the growing Redfern bar atmosphere

Disappointing to say the least. The bar is well themed, and comes across as easy going and sociable. We ordered drinks for 3 people, one of us ordered an Godfather (Amaretto & Whiskey Sour) - maybe the staff and manager should familiarise themselves with this drink! You should be able to find it on Google... We were told that the cocktail would be brought to the table, so after 10 minutes I cautiously approached the bar and saw there was a drink that looked similar. The bar staff acknowledged I was looking at the drink and proceeded to let me take it without asking anything. I took the drink to my table, where the manager or owner, questioned what I ordered after brining a second cocktail to the table, to which I replied that I had already had some of the drink - now knowing that it wasn't my drink after tasting it; his reply was to swear loudly using profuse language to which myself and my friends were disgusted. I explained to the manager just take one drink back, even the second drink was not even correct. He and his employee kept returning to the table to discuss this with us. In the end, we went up to the bar, where the manager demanded that we pay for the two drinks, when originally only one drink was ordered. We left in disappointment and knowing that situation was escalating. We will not be returning here, for the fact that a simple mistake and some miscommunication seems to much for the venue to understand.

I walked past this place a few times before I finally went in and my only regret is not going sooner. The staff are wonderful, they were totally welcoming, friendly and attentive. There is a only a small range of drinks and food – I think this is a deliberate decision the bar made and I agree with it because but everything on offer is prepared perfectly. I will return.
