Islands Restaurant

Islands is somewhere I would not mind being marooned. The interior decor really embraces the island theme, with just the right amount of kitsch. There was a generous outdoor patio with heaters for you to sit and wait for your table. The happy hour hours were very generous in that they were 3p-close and for context I visited on a Sunday. I ordered the Kilauea burger which had black pepper and jalapeños smashed into patty. It had a good amount of spice, but was not over powering. My only knock against the burger was that I felt like it fell apart rather quickly. Which meant I needed napkins on standby. I would definitely eat at Islands again.

I miss pre COVID days the service has gone down like a plague. First got a table with dirty menus and when I asked for new menus, they where like mad cause I inconvenience them by asking for a clean menu. Then when I got my food the the grits were like hash browns and very salty. The hamburger was dry and hardly any flavor like it was under a heating lamp for awhile. I don’t care about the price because of inflation but if I’m going to eat out I expect service and good Quality food.

I've been coming to island restaurants for many years now. Originally in the San Diego area. When I moved to Riverside, I decided to visit this spot. Food, like in any other islands restaurant, was phenomenal, service however, was the worst I have ever seen. Waiters, take long periods of time before they return to check up and see if you need any refills or anything else. When I placed my order, I gave explicit instructions to bring the cheese fries together with the rest of the food, and well the opposite happened. When I told my waitress, her response was, "well the plates are already here, nothing I can do". Horrible customer service in my opinion. Businesses should aim to maintain good customer satisfaction in order to keep customers coming back for more. As for me and my family, this was our last visit here, never coming back.
