Restaurant Mexico

We ate dinner here last week and really enjoyed it. It was a lovely evening and having seen the nice patio out back from our hotel room, we asked if we could eat outside. We were surprised to hear the patio was closed because it was too hot (we're from Canada, so didn't see that coming!) :) We must have sounded disappointed, because the staff took the trouble to clean off and set up a table to serve us outside, where we enjoyed a great dinner. The service was so friendly and attentive that we almost felt like we were at someone's private home! The food was authentic Mexican, was fresh, super tasty and reasonably priced. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the Tempe/Mill Ave area.

Restaurant Mexico was the first place I ate after moving to Tempe. They were an immediate favorite for me and I have enjoyed their establishment at three different locations through the years. Food is always excellent. Staff, many of whom have been there since I first wandered in to their fine establishment. I prefer their Sonoran style food over the more mass marketed Mexico City style of cooking.

A casual dining experience and atmosphere. Prices were reasonable overall. The food was not authentic Mexican food but it was tasty and a little on the spicy side (if you like your food that way). The waitress we had to deal with was a little strange and seemed aloof, rather than friendly while we were there. It kind of felt like she had better things to do than serve tables. When we asked if the food was spicy or hot she replied "spicy is all relative, I eat fire so I guess it's not". This is one of the strangest responses I have ever had to that question (usually you will hear something alone the lines of.... it is like medium Salsa hot) and I eat at a lot of Mexican food restaurants when I travel. Anyway, overall not too bad.

I’ve been a fan of Restaurant Mexico for more than twenty years. The food is always super fresh and served hot. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is always very clean. The bathrooms can sometimes fall below standards but infrequently. The Chiles Rellenos served on Fridays are a MUST try. The latest space the restaurant occupies (third in 15 years – developers kept buying buildings on Mill Ave. forcing the restaurant to move) can be a little loud because of brick and tile everywhere. I regularly get lunch at Restaurant Mexico and the food is delicious, hot and is served quickly. Try it!

First timers here, the place is located in a nice spot. It looks nice inside and the tables are nice. The food was great. I ordered the fried chimichanga qnd my wife orders the tacos meal. The hostess was welcoming and she even knocked a couple dollars off our margaritas. It was a quiet lunch and it filled our stomachs. The food was delicious but the enchilada I ordered was flat. But it was still good. I would recommend the place to try out.

My husband and I have been eating at RM (and at the various locations) for over 30 years, . Obviously we love the simple, fresh, authentic Mexican food...so different from the heavy meals served with vats of orange cheddar cheese piled on everything and glue-like frejoles you get at most Mexican restaurants. Angel, and the rest of the kitchen staff are skilled and fast, and the waitstaff (some having worked there as long as we've been eating there) are attentive, fast and friendly. I wold prefer freshly made warm tortilla chips with the delicious salsa, but hey, the rest of the food makes it so worth it.
