Yes the latte was very good but the atmosphere and location are what I liked most about this place. You get a great view of the St Lawrence Market and there's a lot of hustle and bustle with it being such a busy area. The cafe interior has this old-world, historic charm to it too.

Given a choice between a big chain versus an independent coffee shop, support local! I had a seasonal "Café Harvest" latte made with a plant based oat milk - otherwise known as a pumpkin spiced latte. Staff were efficient and super friendly. Be sure to enjoy your coffee or tea outside on their lovely patio, sitting underneath the cheery yellow umbrellas.
Pro tip: If you enjoyed your visit, check out their other location with a very distinctive decor, in the Distillery District - about a 15 minute walk away.

Still my favourite cafe / coffee shop from the first time I had them in Stratford ontario!
Had one of their seasonal lattes this time which is the oat milk cookie latte and just as tasty as the other drinks.
Smooth and creamy from the milk and nice espresso taste from the latte!
Balzac’s will always have my heart! Great job on everything always!

I tried their Café Canadien and it was too sweet for my taste. Liked the atmosphere and interior design nonetheless.

Nice coffee shop with a terrace when weather permits. Very good coffee, cake, muffins. Enjoyed the chocolate milk. Very nicely decorated, love the style. Seating facilities are quite extensive. Terrace is opposite the St Lawrence market so a lively street but without too much traffic.

I loved, loved this place and go there too often. But recently the service is going downgrade. No friendly even somehow rude service. We all have a hard day and want to have some relax my time. I got a hot chocolate yesterday paid 1$ cream and it was a dot of cream and the cookie was missing a piece of it. No answer to hi or smile. even though the Tip was paid. Hope the manager will take care of the staff. It is one of the best coffeeshops in the city, what a pity if the staff take it down
