Pioneer Of Texas

The hickory smoked chicken was PERFECT. It was the best piece of chicken Ive ever had from a restraunt. It was perfectly moist and quite savory, full of hickory flavor and unbelievable. The okra was just fried okra and the salad was just salad. Wish they offered spinach salads or mixed or something. Also service was not real great. Id say 3.5 stars on the service. I was glad to have stopped in during my travels but not a 5 star place, though great entrées.

Order their supposedly best steak and most expensive brought it to me it was undercooked I asked for medium- not rare brought it back and it was so tough I couldn't even chew it. I think they put it in the microwave that's why ordered mashed potatoes and gravy worst i ever had. They looked like Malt-O-Meal that have been sitting for awhile. That place has really went downhill

This has always been my favorite place to eat, I try other places just to try them especially if they are new in town, but if you're just can't make up your mind what you want for dinner lunch or breakfast you can always go to the pioneer and you can always find something you like especially that coconut cream pie. thanks Doug Burgoyne, nap time now

Driving through texas we stayed overnight in Wichita falls. I didnt want to eat at one of the chain restaurants nearby our hotel, so we chose pioneer of Texas. What a mistake. The restaurant is dingy, dirty, and old. The menu boasts "the best mexican food" but is far far far from that. Taco Bell has better mexican food. The waitress, who had greasy hair and appeared to maybe be high, neglected us on many occasions, and messed up our order. The bus boy was creepy and kept eyeballing us. I felt ill after leaving this restaurant. Don't go here!
