Le Catalan

Actually, I give Le Catalan 4.5 Stars! Great food, sweet location with lovely views (of Wilmington's life-line, the Cape Fear River), coupled with getting to know the charming owners, Pierre and Marie, make this place a MUST dining experience. Casual but delightfully enjoyable, the wines do compliment every aspect of Le Catalan's cuisine. Venture down the River Walk a bit and savor the discovery ... Highly Recommended. Bobby

We visited Le Catalan on a cloudy day during a business trip. I absolutely loved it. The restaurant is super cute and has a relaxing vibe and atmosphere. I had a dirty flamingo cocktail, which was refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness. Then I had the tomato and basil soup, the special brocoli and cheddar quiche and for dessert the Catalan cream (similar to creme brulée). I loved every single course. The food was delicious and tge staff was friendly. Visiting Le Catalan and being able to sit outside viewing the boarwalk and the river was the highlight of my visit to Wilmington.

Excellent surprise! Dropped in for an afternoon glass of wine and cheese plate with my mom after shopping downtown. Service was EXCELLENT. Wine and cheese were spot on and we loved the attention from the owner and server. They know their wine and offerings were perfect! So, good in fact we're going back for brunch this Sunday! merci beaucoup!

I brought my wife, who is French, to Le Catalan for our date last night (Saturday night). We had an exceptionally wonderful time! The French food was authentic and very tasty. The wine recommended by the server went perfectly with our dishes. The decor is outstanding and stylish. The atmosphere was warm and intimate. Not too crowded or noisy, we could talk and hear each other well. The authentic upbeat french music had my wife dancing in her seat. The server was attentive and gave us the "space" to enjoy our meal together. Outstanding views of the boardwalk and the river just outside! If you're looking for something lovely and new, try this restaurant. You'll come back again.

The location is excellent providing a place to relax and watch the sun set over the river. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. Their wine selection is limited and we didn't find anything that we really liked out of our two flights. However, the prices are reasonable for such a good view and in a touristy area.
