Hieronymus Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar

We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer. You only get four pieces, but they were very good and butterfly to perfection. I also ordered the combo platter which comes with flounder, scallops, shrimp, and grits with a lobster cream sauce. The Caesar salad was perfectly seasoned. We went to this place because of a recommendation and we weren’t disappointed! Gravel parking lot is a little difficult for seniors. It would be cool if someone played piano!!!

Tonight we visited a local Wilmington place on Market street, Hieronymus Seafood Restaurant. It has been in operation since 1980. Started off with our favorite Oysters on the half shell and drinks, Caesar salad and entrees. My wife had Fra Diavolo pasta with Blackened Shrimp and Scallops while I had local Trigger Fish with Collard greens! Our server Kelly was very helpful and guided us to a great dinner!

That was one of the BEST meals that we have had recently. The Shrimp & Grits - Creamy grits topped with sautéed shrimp, onions, tomatoes, and lobster cream sauce was awesome. We haven't had that meal since living in Augusta Georgia, next to South Carolina, which should be home for this fantastic dish. Grits are 🍳 with REAL cream and butter - YUMMY Service was OUTSTANDING with the complete staff

We made a reservation through open table and we're seated right away. Our waiter was on top of things! We got a dozen steamed oysters and they were very good. Our food came before we finished them and I was worried that my seafood platter would get cold before we dug into it.... But NO! The fried seafood platter we shared was very hot, NOT greasy AT ALL, and very flavorful! The collards were almost at the top of my list as well! If you've in Wilmington... GO!!!!!

Stopped in on our last night in the area, pleasantly surprised. We called and made a reservation, although I think we could've squeezed in if we hadn't. It's a more laid-back atmosphere, like a supper club almost. We had the she crab soup and the catch of the day. The she crab soup was stellar, not only the best of the kind but the best soup I've ever had in general. Our server, Brendan, was responsive and very friendly. He made sure to get us a few extra biscuits after overhearing me gush about how delicious they were! Definitely recommend and would stop again.
