Platypus And Gnome

Great first time experience at Platypus and Gnome for an early Friday night dinner date. The restaurant has a great energy and an incredibly unique menu with game meat you won’t see elsewhere. Our starter was the fresh seared tuna and it was SO GOOD! for entrees we had the Elk burger and the Kangaroo steak panini. The burger was fantastic and had delicious GF bread. The panini was also delicious but the sauce used was not ideal for the kangaroo steak. We may try something different next time. Overall, the experience was wonderful, from the food to the service to the atmosphere. The only recommendation we would make is to not sit upstairs in the summer, it’s as if there is no A/C in the building and it was quite warm!

The food was fantastic 👌 BUT… DO NOT SIT IN THR BACK LEFT CORNER (look in the restaurant from front door) at the table in the smaller are area.. we sat there tonight and there was absolutely no air flow. We all were so hot and uncomfortable, we couldn’t even finish eating we felt sick from being so hot. Otherwise it was great, server was super chill and helpful. Didn’t have to wait for our food long at all.

This is an AMAZING restaurant!! We visited Willmington for the day (vacationing in Carolina Beach) and needed to eat at a restaurant that could accommodate my special needs. The salads were delicious and the unusual meat offerings were INCREDIBLE! Be adventurous and try something new on their menu. The yucca chips and huarana dip were so good that our granddaughter ate it with a spoon@ Thank you, Platypus & Gnome for a GREAT meal!

Was one of the better restaurants I've been to since I've been back in the states after my tour of the Mediterranean. The wild game Cubano reminded of being back in Greece, and was just delightful. I don't remember what the little chocolate cake was called, but for 12 bucks it's a nice single serving, definitely not gonna share it anyway. The staff is lovely (at least the 3 that were working when I went), and my waitress was supper friendly in making suggestions. Around 5pm before a local festival and there was almost absolutely no wait or many customers, which is surprising at the quality of food and service at the time I was lucky enough to experience it.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Platypus & Gnome restaurant and I must say, it was a fantastic experience! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was top-notch. Patty, our host, was amazing and made us feel right at home. She was warm, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Our server was equally attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The restaurant has a cozy and inviting atmosphere which made for a great dining experience. The best part was that everyone in our group enjoyed the food! There was something for everyone on the menu and all dishes were prepared to perfection. Overall, I highly recommend Platypus & Gnome restaurant. The food is delicious, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is perfect for a great meal out. If you're in the area, definitely come by and try their food. You won't be disappointed!

First time to try the place. Service was ok we had to ask for utensils and napkins as we watched others being seated and given everything. You must try their fries they have. They are intense. Very eclectic choice of meats. The duck was amazing. Actually it was all delicious. Will definitely be back. Can't let 1 issue stop you from trying again.
