Terrible customer service. My husband and I ate lunch here. He took one bite out of his steak sub and did not like it. When we told the waitress that he didn't like the food she said you are not getting your money back and we do not cook to your taste buds. Excuse me? We did not ask for the $8 back we were just telling you he did not like the sub. It would have been nice to offer a replacement meal or something. Anyway, you can keep your dry sandwiches and dry steak.

If I could leave 0 stars I would this place is a joke I ordered a meatball sub combo (no drink) they gave me a measly bag of chips I was expecting fries like every other Italian Restaurant I have ever been too and that’s not the worst part I also got a chicken Alfredo dinner & when I tell you there was no sauce I mean there was literally a spoonful maybe it was so dry I couldn’t even eat it it was a small plate with dry plain noodles and overcooked chicken I called to see if I could bring it back be compensated or replace it for something else the woman proceeded to tell me no we don’t offer refunds or replacements that is why we don’t recommend the chicken Alfredo to go because it is pre measured… she then tells me what I can do is come pick up a side of Alfredo for an additional $3.75 granted I already paid $27 something for the sub combo and the chicken Alfredo dinner when I was told the total to begin with I thought it was awfully expensive but I was gonna try the place out to see if it was worth it or not… tbh I wouldn’t go back there if my life depended on it I’m honestly shocked at the poor customer service and the quality of the food I have absolutely no Idea how this place is still open….next time I will be reading reviews before trying out a new place to eat I would’ve much rather threw the money out the window than to of gave it to this abomination of a “Restaurant”

Ordered the chicken Alfredo it was like eating plain noodles hardly no sauce called back to let them know they said it’s measured and we were pretty much stuck with it .oh they did say that I could buy a cup of there sauce for additional 375 when I already paid 27.00 for the meal and a meatball sub combo which was the sandwich and a bag of chips never going back and if I could give a zero I would!!!!!

Very poor customer service... first time I ate there and will be the last! Also they do not except card. But oh wait they do happen to have an ATM in there restaurant you can use that charges you... 🤦‍♀️ never seen a restaurant so disrespectful and so Desperate to make money.. the food was decent but not worth the head ache or time of day. I could of went home and cooked better.

Owners are hot-heads and belligerent. My mom and I had been coming here for 20 years. But like some of the other commenters below, we won’t be back. What happened? I made the mistake of bringing my Hydro-Flask water bottle in with me, as I’m in the habit of taking it everywhere. Before even saying hello, the waitress starts off barking at me as if I was a school-child doing something horribly wrong. (I put the water bottle aside, no issue, except that as a customer I expect to be treated politely.) Ate lunch with my mother, and went to pay my bill, not thinking much if anything. Instead of taking my money, the two of them get up in my face. The man who owns the place starts in with some sort of angry lecture, and I’m like “sir, I did what she asked, why are you making a big deal out of it?” This sent him through the roof, as he thought I should stand there while he vented his anger my way. I’m then shaking my head in full disbelief, and the owner continues on in a rage, threatening to call the police about what, I do not know, and scaring the bejeezus out of my 80yr old mother. (The owner actually pushed my mother from behind as we were heading out the door!) While I understand what it’s like to have a bad day, as well as the precept it usually takes two to tango, this proprietor’s behavior was utterly outrageous. (It’s not like I said anything derogatory, or disregarded her request to put the water bottle aside, or intended not to leave a tip.) So be warned!

In reference to a previous review--it seems inappropriate for a grown man who attempted to fight a sixteen year old employee to lie about false experiences. Especially being that there was a room full of customers who saw him threaten other employees simply because he refused to leave a form of ID when leaving the restaurant--oh and the police were called on him, not nearly the other way around. Monticello Cafe is a dependable, family-run business.
