Steak 'n Shake

We have always loved the burgers, shakes, and onion rings. However, we rarely go here because of previous visits where we had to wait to be seated, wait to order, wait 30 minutes for our shakes, and even longer for our food. Today, we were shocked and pleasantly surprised. Our entire experience today was absolutely fabulous! I would give them 10 stars if I could. We were immediately greeted at the hostess station. I would highly recommend asking for Krystal P. as your server...sweet, super attentive, southern belle friendly...the absolute best server we have ever had at S&S and best server anywhere, since moving to AL 3 years ago. My husband had the new 6oz. Prime Steakburger and I had the new White Truffle Prime Steakburger. Both came with fries and were juicy, delicious, and noticeably meatier. We also were in time to take advantage of the "Happier Hour" (1/2 price shakes, 2-5 weekdays). If you have been disappointed by Steak & Shake in the past, give them another chance. We will definitely be coming back and asking for Krystal P.

On September 20, 2018 I went in to this place I have always gotten good service at and because I'm sitting with one of their employees the server named Amy took care of everyone else and I'm the last person she came too. I brought it up to her and she says its cause we work there I have never worked at this place and I won't ever go back here because I refuse to deal with stupid people like Amy

Had lunch. Waited over 15 minutes to get our drink order taken. The seats of our booth were covered with duct tape. The place could really a major interior redo. It seemed to take forever to get our food. The food itself was very good but the long wait really ruined our enjoyment of it. I actually had to flag down a waitress (Not our waitress) to get refills on our drinks. The place wasn't even very full while we were there. The food is good, no question, but the place is literally falling apart and needs to be updated, in terms of both the dining room and wait staff.

Went there for dinner last night with my son. Granted, it was Valentine’s Day but they were not that busy. Took about 5 minutes to be seated, and then another 15 min to get our drink order...then about 35 minutes or so to get our food. All in all, we were there for about an hour and forty minutes. Definitely not what we had in mind for a quick dinner. Our waitress was very sweet but she was the only one for the entire restaurant. Burgers were good but fries were not hot...although she did bring us more at our request. The wait time was just unacceptable. Especially when there wasn’t a packed restaurant. The past few times we’ve eaten here the service has been sub-par at best.

We were seated and our order taken immediately. Order came out and was incorrect. Waitress put in an order for the incorrect items and said it would be about 2 minutes. A group of 20 kids came in and she spent about 30 minutes taking their order. About 10 minutes into taking their order, I got up to go to the counter to get my missing items. The lady that came to the counter was the cook and said that she couldn't leave her station to get them, when they were clearly sitting above her head. When the waitress finished the other table's order, my food was cold. She was the ONLY waitress there. There was ONLY one cook and ONE table buster. She said that all the staff had either called in or was running late. I went to the counter to pay our check and can see 5 employees hanging around. No one offered to help or check us out. If I hadn't been paying with a card, I'd have left already. It took 17 minutes for someone to come to the counter to help. I asked why the others we're just standing there and was told that they had clocked out for the day. So much for team work. We also couldn't order milkshakes because they were "out of milkshake base." I literally watched 4 people walk out because of this and another group of 9 leave because they waited about 15 minutes and no one sat them. And to top it off, the 82 health rating was covered up with a menu. This location has always been disappointing. We will unfortunately not be back. Alabaster, Alabama location
