Havana Express

This small place is the take out version of Havana Cafe on East Tremont and Castle hill. The food is amazing here and you can get a combination tray which includes many different choices of yummy Cuban meats and sides. There is plenty of table space as well to dine in if your looking to have a meal here. The location is filled with parking and is a prime location in the Throggs Neck Shopping center! They also have a bar if your looking to have a drink with your meal.

The place is set-up like a mashup of a cafeteria line with a bar at the end. It has plenty of seating, even towards the back which is more private if you're looking for a little privacy with your partner. They have a good assortment of bottled beers and hard ciders, as well beer on tap. As for the food, it is EXCELLENT, generous portion, and pricing is just right. Ropa Vieja is their staple, definitely on-point and it didn't disappoint. Service is also on point and friendly. They are available on GrubHub and Seamless if I'm not mistaken, I only wish they had a print menu in case you want to order carry-out over the phone from the office or if you're on the road. There's plenty of free parking, and they have an outside seating area which must be great during the summer months. If you have a chance to try this place go ahead and do so.

Nice atmosphere, nice interior design. Not Cuban style with antique cars and pictures, but just regular. Food was good, they have traditional Spanish foods, such as carne guisada, ropa vieja, chicken, rices, beans, platains, etc. The spanish foods stuff. Food was good, they have menu options of 1 meat with 2 sides. Some for $8, others for $12 and when you get the fish or salmon, a but more. There are Coronas, and jarribos to drink. Expect to pay $5 for a beer, yes $5. I think they make a lit of money of the drinks as the place looks like a sports bar. Big TV and lovely ladies. Parking is available as it's a mall with other stores and food places. Enjoy.

Food is good. However, I had an immediate bowel evacuation after eating the shredded beef on two separate occasions. It has to be the beef because I had no issue with any other items. I've had their oxtails several times. Very tasty, and no bodily discomfort. It may just be the level of MSG as I find that I have heightened sensitivity to seasoning with glutamate found in it. All in all, I recommend Havana Express.
