We stopped in at the Trackside Bar for a couple of hours. Drinks were a little expensive, but it's a free house, and most of the beers looked like they were from local breweries. While we were there a train was being chartered, and another train was moving some stock. There are timetables showing the heritage rail services for the year, including a guide to events.

It offers a range of unforgettable experiences such as dining with distinction. Food's good, staff very nice. Usually frequented by those interested in steam trains, so no late night raves going on. The East Lancashire Railway is perfect for celebrating special occasions or treating yourself to a unique day out. A window into the past! Walking into the station from the street you will immediately recognise where to purchase your ticket. There are several options depending on how far along the line you want to go, and whether you want access to the museum. Due to the whole thing being run by volunteers it is worth noting that there may be reduced service on the line, or the museum not open when it should. Walking down the steps into the platform put a smile on my face. It's like walking into a film set. The smells are different as well as the look of it, and there's plenty to see whilst waiting for your departure. Walk up and down the platform and you can see the works depot, signals, trackside signage, platform staff. Great fun!

I had the most incredible time at the music event held on the station platform of the steam railway. The unique setting added a nostalgic charm to the experience, with the steam trains chugging in the background. The friendly staff made the event even more enjoyable, ensuring everyone had a great time. The well-priced bar was a pleasant surprise, offering a variety of drinks to suit everyone's taste. The combination of live music, vintage ambiance, and attentive staff created a truly unforgettable afternoon that I can't wait to experience again.

We went to bury Bolton station for a steam train experience. From the first impression, it was clearly a near perfect representation of the old rail system. The station was set to look and feel the old days, the bags the weighing machines, trolleys.. signs. And noticed all the staff were senior citizens, who were very cheerful, caring and helpful. Felt they were enjoying serving the visitors every moment. Steam train experience was also very good. Real smell of the steam and smoke (we left the window open), the sound, the interiors, everything took me back to my childhood. I would recommend this place for those who likes it. Parking at the station may be tough on a mind day, but either transport museum parking or there is another council parking very close by. It is mentioned in their website or use Parkopedia/google. Great day for the 'Day out with Thomas' event. Son really enjoyed it, nice friendly staff on hand plus clean station. Only given 4 star as we paid £20 for a toy at the gift shop, only to get it home to find it broken, I manage to botch it but not the point. Other than that, really good day out, plus the bury transport museum was well kept and had some great pieces inside (situated over the road).

We had a superb dining experience (Sunday Lunch trip) on 07/05/23. The Station, steam locomotive and classic carriages are all beautifully maintained and run by very professional, super friendly staff. Our Sunday lunch was absolutely delicious. A special shout out to our carriage Steward Valen who made our trip extra enjoyable with his lovely personality and total professionalism. Gorgeous scenery along the route completed our unforgettable afternoon out.

Had an absolute blast! The experience was great, especially with the one and only Flying Scotsman hauling our train! The transport museum was filled with transport history, including 60009 Union of South Africa. An overall great day trip which I'd definitely recommend to any transport enthusiasts alike.
