The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery & Biergarten

I came here with a few people who recommended that I should check this place out. The brewery was huge and they also had a winter festival going on as well. The food theme was predominantly German cuisine so I figured I would order along those lines. I ordered a bavarian-style pretzel and the pork schnitzel with rotkohl and bratkartoffeln. The pretzel was good and the cheese sauce that came with it was tasty. The pork schnitzel was cooked properly and the sides paired well with it. The main criticism I had was that the food came out at room temperature and sort of cold. Especially the pretzel which was already sort of seized up shortly after I started eating it. The temperature inconsistencies just made it less enjoyable to eat but part of this was probably due to the amount of people that were there. I will say the service was great and attentive for how busy they were though. So, kudos to them for being able to maintain good hospitality in a busy environment. Otherwise, it's a pretty cool spot, and worth checking out if you are in the area.

Beer was great, loved the outdoor seating area and the food wasn't bad either. This was my first time here. When I arrived the bartender greeted me with a friendly smile and proceeded to explain some of the beers and food options. I had a burger, it was the daily special with fries, and it was good, probably wouldn't say great based on my burger experiences. The outdoor space was phenomenal, hence the 5 star rating, it has 100-year-old oak, mature pecan, and hickory trees.

Great place to visit. Large facility that has a big parking lot but still difficult to find a spot. We ordered the schnitzel that was huge but not quite as good as Austria, however one piece was enough for 2 people. Friendly staff that have a running tab situation because you move through the different bar locations. Movie night was going on that night which is fun for families to watch outside.

OMB in Charlotte was a decent experience. I’m not a fan of their German beers, which can either be completely devoid of taste or taste quite bitter in my opinion. We tried the Mecktoberfest which was tasteless, the Unfourseen which was an average IPA, the Copper was bitter, and the Captain Jack Pilsner which tasted nice.The prices were fair. They’ve seating both inside and outside. Service is okay and can be a bit quicker. Food is better than average. They keep coming up with newer seasonal beers which can be a hit or a miss. There’s a big parking lot. There are better breweries in the area than OMB.
