Gunter Hans

After hearing a lot about it, I finally went to Gunter Hans. The venue was very charming, welcoming, and warm. The sauce portions were good, but the pretzels (although tasty) were a bit overpriced. Luckily, there are several ways to get a free pretzel whether it be through happy hour specials or other coupon! It evens out quite nicely in the end. My experience with the service was poor. Much of the interactions felt awkward and tacky. Our waiter even made a comment "she's cute" about a girl walking in the door as we were paying our bill. It seems as though they had some great servers working, they just managed the reservation room in the back. Better luck next time. All in all, I will likely be returning to Gunter Hans in the future.

I didn't need to reserve. And the fact this restaurant charges you to reserve, is laughable. We waited 15 minutes and no one greeted us. We sat down at the reserve table and had to go to the bar to order multiple times. The food, though decent, is severely overpriced for what you get. And the beverage margins are higher than most places. Food is heavily limited for claiming to be German/European cuisine. The food was an afterthought. Drink selection was good, but everything was overpriced with mediocre service. They suck money out of you between charged reservations and sub par food that is not that good, nor traditional. We've been to 18 countries, and across Europe, and those places would guffaw at the attempt at "European cuisine" here. The environment was quaint and cool, but that's about it. Will not be returning.

My curiosity finally brought me here. It was a very disappointing experience..Being from Belgium I had hoped to get some decent beer. I was wrong..I looked forward to the ooey gooey mouthwatering waffle. Made from scratch said the menu, maybe, if so it must have been made 1 week ago, fresh. On my plate was a sliced waffle hard en cold, sprinkled with some pearl sugar.. Death Belgians would turn over in their grave if they had seen this.. please name it something else.. We called to ask if we had the right item but the person did not know, or could not be sure, etc No not a place to recommend

They have a nice beer selection, the food was good, and their patio is quaint. I enjoyed the atmosphere of Gunter Hans. It provides a feel of a European pub in the middle of Missouri. My biggest disappointment was the service. It took over 45 minutes to get our dip flight and pretzel when there was only three people in the bar. I would presume service is typically better but can't speak from experience. Overall, 4 out of 5 stars.
