Kenji Ramen

We walked in at the last minute before closing but they still served us, and although they were out of several items, they waiter tried to accommodate as much as possible. The menu selection is interesting, with very flavorful noodle bowls. The place is clean and well-designed, and the staff was polite. The "Ebi Karaage" appetizers are great. Favorite bowls on the menu so far are the "Maje Ebi Rayu" and the "Gyu Shoyu".

This place was quite disappointing. I didn't have high expectations going in, but it was quite a bit worse than I expected. I have lived in Japan for a few years and my wife is japanese, so we are pretty picky about our ramen. We tried the maje ramen (no soup ramen) and the tsukemen (cold noodles with dipping sauce). Both were sweet. This was both unexpected and unwanted. The flavor of the maje ramen was basically like eating bi bim bap but with noodles. This wasn't a huge surprise after realizing that all the help was korean. This is clearly a korean-run establishment. That isn't a problem in and of itself, but when you are looking for ramen, you want authentic japanese flavor. They don't even come close here. The tsukemen was also unsatisfying. The sauce had a fishy flavor but was also sweet. I was not a fan. My wife was very sad when she tasted it. In fairness, the noodles were cooked well without being overdone, and the service was fine. The interior is still quite new. Unfortunately, that's about all I have to say that is good about this place. Their tonkatsu may be better but I have no desire to go back and check. If you are looking for korean-flavored noodles, you might be ok with this place, but otherwise I recommend you pass on this "ramen" restaurant.
