Longhorn Steakhouse

I got the rib-eye sandwich with lobster/shrimp chowder as my side. The meat was a piece of steak, not sliced steak, which was cooked correctly to order. Cheese, onions and sauce enhanced the sandwich and the roll was very good. We were given a basket with a warm loaf of bread, which also was good. My lunch mate ordered the cheeseburger. It was cooked correctly to order and was juicy and delicious. Their side was a baked sweet potato with butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Tender center, easy to get a forkful out of the skin, and yummy. Service was a bit slow, but I expected this in a Covid worried world. We were not in a hurry and enjoyed our leisurely lunch.

So! I normally go to a Texas in Howell NJ never been an issue. But tonight was something completely different.I had surgery 3 weeks ago so tonight was my first night out. My bestie decided to take me out being my birthday is coming and trying to get me out the house. Nothing else was open so we decided to got to Texas. Fine!! The waitress "Sammy"" that was on her badge. Her customer service skills were horrible. I kept my composure but my bestie was speaking her mind as she should and felt completely disrespected. It took 10 minutes for a cup of hot water. By the time it came my chili was cold . Asked for a new cup of chili it was thrown on the table. My bestie food was not cooked to her perfection. It gets better my bestie wanted mashed potatoes "Sammy" tells us the potatoes baked and mashed are cooked in pork grease. Then another waiter proceeds to tell me to wash the baked potato off since I don't eat pork. The worst experience ever and I'm still hungry. The manager was great at handling the issue but it was too late. And I told her to keep her coupon. 😡🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡

Decided to try longhorn for my father in law’s 80th birthday my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised besides a couple of small things,was 14 people in our party so the waitress was a little busy but she did okay besides of a couple mix ups like she forgot to bring out my wife’s pepsi we had to remind her and got my wife’s and father in law’s steak mixed up but my wife enjoyed the sirloin and father in law liked the filet mignon so all was good anyway,the onion pedals were very good along with the french onion soup.I ordered the shaved prime rib sandwich which was pretty good but a little light on the steak but still enjoyable,my daughter got the ribs and she said they were delicious I would definitely return to this place so thank you longhorn for a good meal.

Did was good. What put me to 4 stars is two things: 1. Dinner comes with one side. So either it's a potato/rice/fries OR vegetables. Would expect one of each. 2. Staff was very friendly and attentive but mask wearing was lax. Waitresses had one on properly the entire time but other staff didn't. Overall nice space
