Clinton's Soda Fountain

Great place to cool down. Employees were very courteous and welcoming. Outside was a gigantic water bowl for dogs and our dog was invited in and offered a pup cup on the house while we had our usual waffle cone. While inside we checked out all the historical president Truman items and had a very nice break from the heat on our visit to the square.

We really wanted to like this place. The mural outside is cute. The old hanging soda fountain sign is cute and the exterior of the building makes you thing something cool is inside. Well, there isn’t. The menu is unimaginative and basic. The shop is cute or charming but looks cluttered and like it is a storage room with old booths crammed in. There is a lot of kitschy stuff for sale that doesn’t have anything to do with the shop. The merchandise is shoved in a cherry wood colored display facing the bar. It is so out of place and has stun glass doors on either end. It is awkward.

So let me start off by saying, my family did like the Sundae. We would probably go back. With that said here is the good, the ok, and the bad. Let’s start with what was bad. The place had the smell of cat litter. If you like the smell of a litter bag then it is great. Also the service was slow. It took about 15 minutes to get our Sundaes and there were only two people ahead of us in line. On to the ok. They seem to be using blue bell ice cream. It isn’t fresh ice cream, but not bad. Now for the good. They gave a lot of toppings. The flavor of the chocolate fudge was very great. On top of that they gave a good size of ice cream. In the end there was enough toppings that you could have them with each bit.
