Cracker Barrel

My sister and I went a week ago for breakfast and lunch on different days.breakfast was great had biscuits and gravy it was delicious....when I had lunch it was chicken and dumplings...it was great love there chicken and dumplings ..I don't think anyone makes it better...nice friendly waitress and staff...store is clean... highly recommend it ...

Was meeting my childhood friend for brunch. We were seated quickly in the middle of the room. People at tables on both sides of us so it was a bit difficult to hear each other talk. My friend asked for cornbread but was given biscuits and gravy instead. She let it slide and didn't let the waitress know. I tried the new cinnamon roll pie breakfast and it was delicious. The fireplace was burning and a beautiful Christmas tree was in the dining room. The gift shop had some beautiful and affordable things. I asked if they had ribbon candy for my husband but they said they didn't get it this year, he will be disappointed. But I got him some other nostalgic candy.

Another less than positive experience at Cracker Barrel. It may be that I just expect too much in today's work environment. When we traveled, CB was the "treat" of the trip. It may have cost a little more, but the food was hot, well portioned, and the cool atmosphere and the little store to look around while you waited for a table (they were always packed) made it worth the expense. What happened? Now the food is not quite hot, they packed us in tight (I could reach out and touch a table on either side without stretching) the wait for a refill is long (those are not big cups and glasses), the portions are smaller and the wait staff uncaring. Still, it was Cracker Barrel, so the food was good, but when we left it was just a meal, not an experience. If CB wants the help of an observant ex restaurant guy, give me a call. I have a few suggestions.

Employees at this location are very friendly and welcoming. Loved that the fireplace was being used. Floors and restrooms needed cleaning. Store is always fun to browse but a bit pricey. Food was just okay. Had chicken and dumplings with one piece of chicken. The three entree platter with steak tips, shrimp and chicken strips was pretty good (steak was good enough to get again, shrimp nothing special and chicken strips were blah). Like the huge amount of side options. Would go back again but maybe try the all day breakfast menu...
