Willow Creek Cafe

Even during the Sunday lunch rush, Willow Creek was, as always, good. The salad bar was fully stocked and the Chicken fried chicken, pounded thin, hand breaded and perfectly fried. The white gravy was just thick enough to add the finishing touch. We didn’t get dessert this time but the pies and cakes looked great. How can you not love a place with a patriotic tree?

Wonderful quaint restaurant with amazing comfort food. When in the town of Mason, you must visit Willow Creek. They have all the types of food one would expect when it comes to hometown cooking and even have a salad bar. We had the lunch special of pot roast with veggies, salad bar, buttermilk pie and ice tea which was all great. They are known for their other pies as well but we didn't have anymore room to try them. We went Sunday afternoon and it was very busy but it was definitely worth the wait. The service and food didn't disappoint. Everyone was very friendly including the other customers. This restaurant is also dog friendly and sat in their outside seating. The waiter brought us water for our dog which we appreciated. We highly recommend going here if you will be going to Mason and just passing through like we were. It’s definitely a must stop.

We stop here on our way to our ranch for dinner. Have always enjoyed it. This last time took quite a bit longer to get our food though. Then when we were ready for the ticket that took way to long. We were needing to be somewhere before it closed and having to wait so long for our ticket and our dinner didn't help us get to our next stop before they closed. They need to keep up with the items in the salad bar. Several containers were empty and the ranch was all gone. The restaurant wasn't packed and there wasn't a wait to be seated. So we were confused on why we ran into the issues we did. We will return for sure. The food is good. Just need to work on keeping the salad bar full and get the food and bill to the customers quicker. Definitely worth giving it a try if your ever in town

We were passing through. We walked in and no one greeted us and after we stood there we asked another person who walked in line behind us if she had been before and of we are supposed to seat ourselves Service, she kindly said YES. There are no signs or direction to direct the customers as to their protocol. Service was sub-par, food was good not great just good .Never order the fried calamari . It taste more like freezer burnt deep fried chicken cartilage fries! On a better note, the chicken fried breast and patty melt were good. Fried avocado nuggets where to pricey for portion size! On our travels we have stopped at Willow Creek Cafe. The takeout experience was good, and the food is pretty good for a small town. It's basically the only place open to eat in the area on any given day. The restaurant seems clean and the decor feels like a comfy country restaurant. We decided to change it up and eat inside on a Sunday after 6pm. We walked in and we were told we could order at the counter or pick a table and be served. Well, 15 minutes later we didn't get so much as eye contact or a hello or menus. 2 staff members were up front rolling silverware and the girl at the register was still there. The next family walked in, got seated, were handed menus, and had a server in less than a minute. 20 minutes no service and we walked out. I was close to saying it was a staffing shortage, but there were too many staff members walking around in the front of the restaurant to think that's accurate. If we ever come back we will just stick with takeout.

Waitress brought me a menu, asked what I’d like to drink. Asked for a bar drink menu. She brought it and a glass of ice water. I waited and waited and when she appears from the back… surprise… she was busy talking on her cell phone. I waved my hand to her and she basically ignored me and walked off. Another waitress who informed me it was Not her section when I asked.. took my orders and was very attentive. Management needs to lock up cell phones and work instruct staff in customer relations. BTW. I was the only table there besides one other couple who were almost done eating. Soup was warm not hot. Fried green tomatoes were Not that great. Drink was good. Spent $30 with a $5 tip. Can’t believe the prices! Enter at your own risk.

I had the chicken fried steak! It appeared to be a frozen patty! The taste was horrible! The breading was 2 inches thick and the meat was about 1/8. The service was slow! There was 3 tables in the restaurant and our waitress never came around to fill our tea! It was not a good experience! I don’t not recommend.
