Blue Plate Diner

I never understood the bad reviews until I saw it for myself. I ordered online called 3 times before the order was even prepared and was told they’d call me back. They never did and when my food arrived it was wrong. I guess they only have bacon and eggs over easy on the menu for Uber eats. My kids can’t eat either of those. They could have told me that the first time I called and avoided this whole thing. The person answering the phone wouldn’t even let me talk before giving me an “I don’t care” apology so I cussed him out. then the owner called me back within 2 seconds (this shows they could’ve called before my order was made but decided not to) just to tell me it was his son that I yelled at. His son deserved it and is lazy from what I’ve seen the times I’ve actually been in there to eat. I always ignored the poor service and half decent food because I’m easy going. I understand that your waiters (your poorly raised son) “work hard” for their money but so do I and I do not have to settling for less. If you mess with my food yeah I’m going to be upset It’s my money that your messing with. So Eff your son and you.

My husband an just in Newport for the week. We ate at many restaurants but this very unpretentious diner was my favorite! I am ashamed to admit that I was a little hesitant to try it. Wow...I am so happy that we did. The service was great and the diner was extremely clean. The food was absolutely delicious!! The chicken rice soup is better than my nana's and the clam chowder was perfect. Chicken is delicious, burgers great, rubens tasted like NYC, waffles were both tender and crisp. We did not get to try it, seafood going by looked wonderful. Don't skip this gem...if you do, you'll be sorry!

Nice local Diner type restaurant (but not a Classic Diner). All day breakfast, very tasty corned beef hash and Poached Eggs done well. Excellent home fries, (rarely found these days). Also has quite a varied menu of healthy options, not just a greasy spoon. Recommend for anyone looking for a roomy, nice, comfort food meal.
