Cahawba House

Passing through town and picked this local place. The pictures of the food looked amazing. Unfortunately this was not the case in person. The chicken was extremely dry as was the Mac and cheese. It was also just room temperature. The only hot food was the fried green tomatoes and they were tuff because they were too green. My fiance had the meatloaf and it was a very dry end piece with no flavor and covered in catsup which I'm guessing was to cover up the dark burnt meat under it. I did not take a picture unfortunately but look a few reviews down and that's exactly what it looked like. Definitely not worth the 34.00 and a very disappointing Sunday lunch.

We were incredibly disappointed with this visit, especially after seeing such great reviews online. Food was incredibly bland all around. Meatloaf sandwich was not tasty, fried green tomatoes were disappointing, pimento grilled cheese was somehow cold in the middle. We ordered drinks, got them, and drank them just to be told after that the soda machine isn’t working today. Didn’t have momma sauce. Stopped serving breakfast for literally the crappiest lunch on our road trip… I understand a short staff but this was honestly gross.

Incredible experience! The staff was extraordinarily friendly, and the food divine. We ordered the chicken & egg sandwich, and it was cooked to perfection. Their banana pudding icecream for breakfast was as delicious as was the feeling of getting away with eating dessert for breakfast! 100% coming back here, one of the best breakfasts I've had in awhile!
