Riks Mahal

Absolute rubbish. We ordered curry not soup! Worst Indian I’ve had. All curries were well off flavourwise and had the consistency of water throughout. The meat was chewy and grizzly - not at all slow cooked. Onion baghi was just badly done soggy onion rings. I understand people need to make a profit but never seen anything like this watered-down rubbish.

Their ambience and taste gave us back those nostalgic memories of South Indian food streets and food courts. We are great fans of Kothu roti. Fruit salad ice cream is hard to miss, my kids absolutely love it. We did not enjoy their Biriyani much though. (May be due to personal preferences). The owner and staff are really well- behaved and polite, always with a smile on their face. The owner is very down to earth and extremely non-judgmental. He is so humble and simple that we always thought he was one of the service staff.

I’d be VERY CAREFUL when ordering. I won’t tell you to not buy anything but my experience will be the first and last. I ordered some drinks (tea and falooda). The people in the kitchen who prepared the drinks tasted the drinks with spoons in their mouth and puts it right back onto the jug. Not SANITARY AT ALL. PLEASE be careful, who knows what sickness they might have and pass it on to their customers. If they did taste with a clean spoon they should put it back to wash it instead placing it back on the drink.

Disappointed. We ordered Tom Yum Soup (A$15.80), Devilled Prawns (A$23.00), Singapore Fried Noodles (A$13.90) and Special Fried Rice (A$25.80). We ordered through Uber Eats and it showed that the driver had to wait for a long time to get the order. The soup was edible, too sour though. But the other items were absolutely burnt. The devilled prawn was completely black in colour and we could even taste the burnt bits from the pan. The rice and noodles were probably cooked in the same pan/wok or God knows what but everything had the same burnt taste. Total waste of money!

I've been going here once a week for the past few years with my family. While I do still enjoy the food, the quality has always been inconsistent. I'm quite disappointed that the menu has been cut down heaps recently too (RIP palak paneer). Only writing this because today I ordered the kotthu roti, a dish I have never had a problem with, and the quality was much worse than usual. Used to really love this place, now I just don't mind it. Do better, Riks Mahal.

Ordered 2 plates of their mee goreng and the dishes smelt absolutely foul! Can't describe the smell as it wasnt something I had ever smelt before in a kitchen! Was disgusting and almost made me throw up. Had 2 spoonfuls and threw rest in bin to be safe. Was utterly disappointed and was looking forward to a nice dinner.
