Publix

This Publix is within walking distance of my apartment's. Everything is always the best quality. Whether its meats or produce. Dry goods or dairy. I am always pleased and I appreciate everything that this location does to make my experience a good one. 4 stars instead of 5 because it is a little pricey especially the seafood.

I ordered a cake for my daughter’s birthday and the actual cake itself was stale and leaning to the side. I talked to someone in the bakery about it and he apologized and informed me that they could probably replace it and to contact the store manager when I was ready for another one. I decided to replace the cake from my daughters bday and use it for my Other daughters 5yr Angelversary. So I contacted the store manager two days ago who was rude and short about replacing it but still offered to do so if I produced the cake or the receipt. Luckily I saved the 2 week old cake because I couldn’t locate the receipt. I took the cake to the store leaving the tiara inside the box by mistake and met the manager. He came up got the cake and I left. The cake was prepared and was supposed to be picked up by 10am yesterday but I had an emergency about 90miles away and I couldn’t make it there by 10am. By the time I was able to get there through the holiday traffic which included an accident that took 3hrs to get through. I made it to pick up the cake right before 9pm when they were closing. It was still sitting out and not in the cooler. The young lady assisted me with showing me the cake which appeared to be pretty. I asked for the original tiara but she couldn’t locate one but was so polite and gave me the tinker kit that I asked for as well to purchase. I thanked her and left. Got to the car and tried to remove the tape to show the cake to the kids and it slid from in place to the side of the box from not being cooled. I cried.. but took the cake home and called the store this morning to inform them that.. the cake icing was melted and wasn’t holding up to even make it to the car from the store. We tasted the cake and it’s was moist but the dye for the color was strong. I spoke with a lady who was nice but handed me off to this once again abrupt supervisor.. who I explained the situation of the cake melting from being left out over 11hrs.( My fault admitted ) plus the dye being stronger and the missing tiara. Who replied that the cake was left out because I didn’t come and pick it up timely and that they don’t cool that kind of cake. But he’d be glad to give me the tiara back and to have a great day. My issue is.. yes I was late but, if a person is over 4 hrs on picking up a cake why not cool it. He could have even offered a store credit or anything to help. The level of concern with the cake being for special occasions and aiming to satisfy the customer was not expressed. And I’m truly disappointed. A simple act of kindness and concerns towards someone’s purchase could mean a lot. He lacks customer service and satisfaction skills and in his position it can’t be trained.. it has to be naturally in you.
